I’'m I Sitter from Montreal looking for house sits in New York City and I’m curious to hear what your best experience has been so far with you sitter? Have you ever come back to the same sitter more than once and what were your reasons for doing so? I’d love to hear some positive experiences.

Every HO so far (14) asked us to come back, with or without sitting their dogs.

We’re sitters, we return the same pets time after time. I am going to presume you are asking because you would like to return to Montreal on a regular basis, that’s exactly what we do with very specific areas of the UK and Spain as that’s where our family lives, so we always sit within a 2 hour journey from them.
Returning to the same pets is fantastic.

You might want to look at sitters’ reviews written by hosts — many, many available to skim.
Usually, the ones where the hosts say they’d welcome sitters back are similar:
• Good communications and updates.
• Happy, healthy pets on their return.
• Homes well taken care of, clean and tidy.
• If they have plants or gardens, they’re in good shape on return.
Dealbreakers tend to include surprises like:
• Leaving pets untended for long stretches, as seen on external cameras or reported by neighbors.
• Inviting guests without permission.
• High utility bills.
• Leaving homes in a mess or disarray, or damaged.
• Eating food or using supplies without specific invitation. Also drinking alcohol without explicit invitation about how much is OK, if any.
• Breaking items.

The first sitters I ever had were a couple who have become dear friends. They have come back to look my new dog numerous times, after the first pet-sit cat crossed the rainbow bridge. We have met in other locations around the world, while I was pet sitting myself, and last year they found and arranged an apartment in Spain (where they live) for my dog and I to spend the winter near them.
They will be coming again for Christmas and I know the dog will be with people who love her as much as I do. Their friendship is the best experience I have had from THS!

That’s so lovely to hear! Really happy to hear of such friendships that came out of THS. We became really good friends with a lot of our HOs. We even spent Christmas together last year and at the moment other HOs are visiting our parents in Germany (in our absence! 
) as they are on a holiday trip there and enjoy being spoilt by my parents (who are same age).

The best sitters we’ve had communicate daily, including great pics & information on our cat + we love to hear what they are doing in the are. (makes us happy to see that they are having fun too)
They have left the house as clean as we handed it over to them & if time is permitting on leave day they have washed towels and bed sheets (not needed but really appreciated).
And yes we have had 2 sitters we have used more than once & are booking our current sitter for next year. I wish you the best of luck on your sits!

Our best sitters became friends and eventually moved to my town because they loved it so much.
