I am just curious
Do many pet sitters here have Pet Sitting Insurance, to cover you for public liability, for pet transportation, Loss of home owners keys, etc

That would only apply in the UK if you were actually running a business and changing for instance, dog walking. I think it’s probably different in other countries
Hi @RedLassie ![]()
We looked into pet sitting insurance and weighed up the pros and cons for our THS sits.
Pros:
• Covers public liability if something goes wrong with the pet or home
• Can include pet transport and accidental damage
• Peace of mind knowing there’s formal insurance
Cons:
• Most policies are written for paid pet-sitting businesses, not exchange platforms like THS
• Premiums can be high for minimal-risk sits
• Some fine print may not actually cover non-commercial sits
• THS’s own protections and careful sit selection already provide some coverage
After weighing everything, we decided insurance isn’t the right fit for us — though we completely understand why others might choose it.
We also go over the insurance question in our first chat with HOs, just to make sure there are no surprises and everyone’s comfortable.

I am thinking more along the lines of private sits, which I am now being forced into by this money grab when my membership renewal is up, shortly.
£5.41 per month, that is less than I spend on the Lottery per month, and I think it will give pet owners peace of mind that I am serious about this. Along with my DBS Check
You would have to alter your car insurance too because if you use it to get to sits which are paid it would no longer be for pleasure but it would be business use
take bus/train, charge them travel costs too
Where does one find pet insurance for commercial sits?
I’m such a rube; didn’t even know such a thing existed.
are you in the UK?
OOPS, I see you are across the pond, you will need to just Google it
Nah. Not a rube. You’re just not a UK resident. No such thing in the US (though homeowner insurance covers most liability risks). And Umbrella policies in the US are very cheap by insurance premium standards.
Not all individual umbrella policies would cover cover pet sitting, which they may (as US Immigration does) view as vocational. It would be best to get a broker who specializes in umbrellas to be sure it covers the types of risks a sitter would want covered (which would have to be major, like they accidentally burned the house down or wrecked the car in an at-fault accident) - most umbrellas are not stand alone policies and require underlying base coverage (either homeowners, renters or auto). So again, it would be really specialized and wouldn’t cover things like hotels if a sit is cancelled, or reimbursement for canceled travel tickets. Or minor damage to HO property (eg broken glasses/dishes).
No, but I will do when I start charging on another site
I can give you a discount by referral if you like, and you get £40 off when you renew?
fancy that, a company who give you a benefit for your repeat business!!!
That would be great
