That’s so lovely to know. My dog is really bonding with me too. He loves our trips down to the port and happily trots at the higher level on the port wall so I can pass other people, joggers on the next level and give them space.

Spent the holiday on the Big Island of Hawaii with these lovable cuties…my first Christmas sit, and hopefully a new tradition of exciting Christmas adventures in the future.

Christmas sit with 30 animals over, I am now on my New Year sit. One dog, fairly local.
I wanted to stay up for the bells at Hogmanay, but was fighting sleep so off to bed 10.30pm. Lightweight!
I woke just before midnight, poor Toby was really scared of fireworks, was panting heavily and shaking for about 30 minutes, even with me stroking him and reassuring him that he was ok. The fireworks were not even close by.
Colin, I’m newer to THS and have a question regarding your having a relative with you on your stay. I would love to have a relative or friend join me on occasion. How do you go about doing that? Is it something you arrange with the HO before Confirming the sit? Has you ever requested it of a HO after Confirming?

My mother in law joins us on our Christmas sit every year but we always ask at the application stage as we are asking for the use of three bedrooms which we understand is quite a big ask.
If you want to have a friend or relative who is not already named on your profile.stay with you on a sit , personally, I think you should always ask in your original application. This gives them ample time to consider your request , and agree, or not as they wish knowing whatver they decide, there will be no hard feelings.
Asking after a sit has been confirmed is a very different scenario as it puts the home host in an awkward situation. This is not the arrangement they have agreed to but they may feel pressurised into agreeing which isn’t the best foundation to start the sit.
Even when we sit as a couple we always ask for the use of two bedrooms so If you are a solo sitter, asking if a friend can join you at the application stage I think should get you quite a high acceptance rate.

I occasionally bring a friend with me, but I always ask in my application. I word it “I would like to bring a friend (who has her own THS account) but if this is not possible, I totally understand and am happy to apply as a solo sitter, it is not a deal breaker for me”
