Hi @systaran having lived on an acreage in Alberta Canada I know the feeling unfortunately it comes with the territory in rural locations with inclement weather conditions, I’m sure you’ll get released soon.
Perhaps the sudden snow storm has taken the ploughing service by surprise …
I’ve taken a look at your home away from home sit and two adorable kitties, it looks lovely. Do let us know when the ploughing cavalry arrives … would love to see a picture from your window
Must be difficult for you, you may have tried this, but if the HO’s left you any local contact/friend numbers, give one of them a call and see if they give you a number for whoever does the plowing. Just to gently remind them that you’re there and need to get out.
We recently started a 26 day sit in Faro, Portugal. We couldn’t be happier, for many reasons. The pets are adorable (2 cats and a budgie), the pet owner as well as the home is even more adorable and to be in one place for 26 days is a luxury. And Faro is a beautiful small city.
Settling in to amazing Port Fairy, Victoria Australia - and it’s just lovely. Dachshund puppy, 2 cats, 2 cockatiels and 2 canaries- plus some spectacular blue skies. Ohh and some other friendly locals.
@lifephasenext we will still be in Faro until 26 December - interested in a meetup? If yes, then I’ll create a meetup post and maybe someone else can join as well…
After our 2 week family vacation break in Waikiki, we are back in Vancouver on our first full month+ sit. A sweet fluffy little kitty, who is extremely low maintenance, and the softest cat I’ve ever met. We are very pleased to only be 15 minutes from my brother and my sister-in-law’s extensive family. Snow on the ground and tons of free time to further discover the surrounding area. We were lucky enough to catch my nephew’s championship playoff game win, and be present when he was named MVP. What a busy and exciting way to wrap up our first year as full time sitters!
Perth, Western Australia for 2+ weeks with Coco, 9 year old and Chica, 6 year old Chihuahuas. Lots of personality but Coco is a bit frail - takes meds for arthritis and this week eye drops for an infection. But he doesn’t mind so long as I’m holding him in my arms.
Karlos is a very large 13 year old bengal cat - coat is leopard like, really beautiful. Karlos is about 20 lbs - he weighs more than the 2 dogs combined.
Coco letting me know it is taking too long to prep his dinner
We are now at our East Grinstead sit, number 2 of 11 over the next 4 months of our UK grand adventure. It’s turned very cold -3 to 3. It’s pretty chilly walking our 3 dogs in minus 3 temps! We also have 2 chooks, poor things having to live outside! Fun fact, they don’t lay eggs over winter. Didn’t know that. When we left Brisbane, Australia 2 weeks ago it was 30 degrees, currently in a 37 degree heat wave (don’t miss that) but we knew what we were getting in to for a UK winter!
East Grinstead is very picturesque with a very old high street with buildings about 500 years old. Got to use an aga for the first time & overcooked the casserole in the slow oven! So now it’s a hearty chicken & vege soup. What an amazing metal beast that keeps us toasty warm!
Thanks @Colin for your East Grinstead info several months ago, we visited Pooh Corner at Hartfield yesterday and had a proper English cream tea with a Winnie-the-Pooh tea pot! They have very interesting memorabila there, even if you’re not a Pooh fan.
We leave on Monday for Guildford right when the UK train strikes start, so that’ll be fun!
@crookie - thanks. Grabbed the map to my phone. Going to be out and about in town tomorrow - starting with what is said to be one of the largest farmers markets in Australia.
