I’m envious @Crookie as it was a mild winter when we were there and no White Christmas
Hello im sitting in the province of Quebec right now. One of the dog is sleeping on me and the other 2 are sleeping in the living room. I still have another week to enjoy the place the two kittys and an olser cat they are really nice and the chikens are so cute. Its been the 3rd time at the same place mostly because i m working remotly. I really enjoy having them around me. And the house is really nice.
@Amparo as always, thanks for your thoughtful response and insight.
PS. I met ‘Mr. Alsatian’ again this morning on our walk. Again I couldn’t get out of the way. This time, I just shrugged my shoulders and braced for the dogs’ interaction because I knew what was coming. Luckily just a small kerfuffle and the owner also just shrugged. I doubt he even remembers me or his outburst from Saturday. You see, when our minds are calm, we view things differently, measured…
That’s so “cute” @Crookie (for want of a better word). I suppose it’s like me just closing my eyes and listening to cicadas, crickets & other chirpy things in hot climates; I just love the sound.
Added bonus; I’m not freezing my giblets off while doing that
We finished our East Grinstead sit on Monday in a winter wonderland. It was an exciting experience for us.
Then we got to experience what it means living with snow when train after train to Guildford was cancelled. We got in to the Angel Posting Hotel a few hours later than we planned.
Thankfully we built in an overnight buffer before our Guildford sit started on Tuesday with the absolutely adorable Rafa who showed us around this morning on a 6km walk
Looks like you’re having a pre - White Christmas @Crookie. Beautiful photos. Glad you had built in an overnight buffer with the train situation. Rafa looks gorgeous! Are you there for over Christmas and New Year?
Hi @temba we will be near Portsmouth for Christmas, so probably no snow. We leave Guildford today for our next sit at Haywards Heath. Due to the rail strikes today the lovely owner is driving an hour to pick us up from Guildford just in case our trains went awry.
How thoughtful of your owner. Enjoy Haywards Heath then Portsmouth. You’re definitely keeping on the go @Crookie!!
I sat for a cat and three chickens on Anglesey, North Wales last Christmas/New York and got one egg most mornings.
Otter just 2 days. Last sit of the year before medical procedure.
HAPPY HANUKKAH
MERY CHRISTMAS
A WONDERFUL 2023
to all HO & HS.
Happy to be part of this community.
Grandma
We are now on our 4th sit of our grand UK adventure in the lovely village of Lindfield near Haywards Heath, looking after 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Teddy (brown & white) and Lulu (brown). Lindfield is very picturesque with a 500+ year old high street that is decorated beautifully with Christmas lights. We went to Glow Wild at Waiehurst Gardens and it was magical. Highly recommend that if you are in the area.
Thankfully it was a bit warmer this morning walking the dogs at only 2 degrees. An improvement on minus 7 at Guildford earlier in the week. Rain is expected this afternoon that will hopefully melt all the super slippery ice on the footbaths. It has been very unsafe walking around.
And to you @Grandma! I hope you’re up and pet sitting again quickly after your medical procedure.
@Crookie I love your pictures, especially the one of bees and flowers in the snow! Very nice!
@Karen_E they were giant sculptures at Glow Wild. So many beautiful lights.
Love the brightly coloured decorations and, of course, the pups @Crookie. Sat near Lindfield a few years ago. A pretty village. Your sits are quite short so you’re on the move often. Any longer ones booked?
@temba our next sit near Portsmouth is for 3 weeks so we will be a bit more settled. The moving around hasn’t been too bad, except for the train disruptions. There hasn’t been one place yet where we’ve wished we were there longer. But we wouldn’t like to do 1 or 2 night sits, they’re too short. There’s the same amount of cleaning at the end of the sit whether it’s 2 nights or 2 weeks!
Beginning to look a lot like Christmas….my favorite kind of snow, is the type I can look at through a window After years of living in the south, this is just the second year, in a very long time, experiencing the white stuff around the holidays. This fluffy little one is happy to snuggle on the couch and keep us company, while watching Christmas movies. We chose to visit the Vancouver Christmas Market, with family, a few days before this place turned into a winter wonderland. We have 3 more weeks before our road trip heading south to sunny skies and boot-less weather
They’re pretty @Karen_E but they’re wasps! Not sure why the artist chose them for the display really.
@Joanne thank you for taking me home to Vancouver … I love Granville Island Market at anytime of year but especially at Christmas … I hope Jamie Oliver (on the TV) was talking about his best ever Roastie’s for Christmas dinner
