I’ve been a loyal sitter for over two years. 30 five-star reviews. I have honored every sit I’ve agreed even when it was very inconvenient. At one point I drove 8+ hours (each way) to a sit when my plans changed and I otherwise wouldn’t be in that location. Because I have integrity. I have been a brand ambassador and recruited friends and family, even my mother, as customers. (I’ll now advise them to leave.)
THS, on the other hand, doesn’t do the right thing. They Treat sitters like slave labor.

I just had a HO cancel on me a few days before the start of a short (3-night) sit. Just because the weather was bad. My membership renewed a few days ago. I had been a premium member for two years but renewed as a standard member. Why? Bc THS had f-ed up the only time I tried to use the airport lounge passes, so I was denied entry to the lounge. Why pay for a benefit that isn’t really available?? (Can you spell fraud?)
I asked THS to reimburse me a measly $70/night for 3 nights for a very cheap Airbnb for the nights of the cancelled sit. A resounding NO. It was disrespectful. I was threatened with “disciplinary action”. Went in for at least an hour.
I am finishing a sit tonight and have another starting tomorrow morning. And another in a week. I told them if they can’t help with this basic request I should get a refund of the renewal I just paid two days ago. I won’t do business with a company that craps on me. I will not be a THS sitter anymore.
(Aside—I don’t need the money. I don’t sit for a place to sleep. I happen to be a nomadic multi-millionaire who loves animals and travel. I can pay for a hotel. Heck, I can fly to Vegas and stay at the Waldorf for three nights if I want to.)
But as a matter of principle, I’ve left THS. And so should you. They will NOT have your back if something goes wrong. They have no idea what we as sitters do. Clueless. Nor do they care about homeowners. They are NOT trusted.
So they told me if I cancel all my sits I can get a refund. WTF??? I have a sit starting TOMORROW MORNING and you want me to cancel? (HOs beware!)
After a lot of texting, we agreed I would honor the two booked sits starting this week and they would partially refund my recent payment. Kinda reasonable. S****y but whatever. I would not leave the HOs or their animals without a sitter after I committed.
And now my account is closed. I cannot contact the HOs for the two sits this week.
THS is grossly incompetent and doesn’t care about sitters or homeowners. I’m out.
Whether you are a sitter or HO, I suggest you find another site. There are plenty available. The value proposition isn’t here.
