Will the review anxiety ever go?!

Then it is outlie, maybe a glitch. Maybe the HO thought they left a review, but accidentally/due to the platform malfunctioning, the review never got sent? I have several one direction reviews in my page, and the general info is still that what you send will be published. Of course a change could be coming, but I dont think THS would benefit from that, so I doubt it.

I’m very relieved to hear it. I’ve only heard of it actually happening once and luckily I’ve had 5 star experiences (and got 5 star reviews) making some great friends in the process.

My concern from the actual incident of it NOT happening as it clearly should was more from seeing so many ‘problems’ threads from both sitters and HOs.

And also clearly this chat thing doesn’t make it clear who is replying to whom lol

Happy to stand corrected

An interesting question. I think you’re either the sort of person who frets about reviews, or you’re not. Actually, I believe it’s yet another aspect of normal life which has been medicalised, as “Rejection Dysphoria Syndrome”. If you are that sort of person, no amount of logic or “Don’t Frets” will stop you worrying. If you’re not, you can Leave The Pets Well and The Home as You Found It and go blithely on your way. I don’t stress too much about reviews, but I get into a right old state about cleaning on the last full day of a sit. The house must be notably sparkling; just leaving it as I found it isn’t good enough. I confess, I even lose sleep on the penultimate night, worrying about whether it’s time to get up and get out the mop. Is this a sane and normal way to think or act? You betcha it isn’t! Will I ever be able merely to amble round with a hoover, done (and dusted) in half an hour, tops? Is the Pope a Jew??

I reckon the only approach is to accept that you’ll always be anxious about reviews. Accept that tendency in yourself, have a laugh about it, acknowledge its futility… But don’t beat yourself up about it, because that anxiety could well be one of the factors that make you a great sitter and a caring, conscientious person.

Another pair of hosts who pinged me to let me know (unasked) that they arrived home and their pet is well. Just happened today.

Note: These hosts also asked for feedback from me, because they said they’re always wanting to improve for future sitters. They’re clearly thoughtful hosts and their listing reflected that.

I didn’t need to beg them for a welcome guide or departure and return specifics. I only had to ask and they sent those well ahead of our sit.

Also, as regularly happens, they pinged me before they took off (to say their return flight was looking to leave on time) and as soon as they landed (to estimate their return home from the airport). I have never been surprised by a host who returned early, because I consistently screen for thoughtful hosts.

Even in two cases of legit emergencies (major accident that required follow-up surgery and hosts who scrambled to return home early to say goodbye when their elderly, sick dog had to be put down), the hosts kept me updated on their changed return times, so as to not surprise me.

I mention such, because there are good hosts out there, but it takes weeding out the crummy ones.

Lovely! This is exactly the type of message that I typically receive on HO return.

Great to hear that – good hosts are the only ones worth sitting for, from my perspective.

I love hearing from happy hosts promptly, and in this case, like many, these hosts have invited me back.

For sure! I love building a relationship with lovely hosts, and would definitely prioritise their sits.

I used to use THS for variety in locations while telecommuting, so didn’t pursue repeat sits. But since I shifted to sitting less frequently and decided to quit THS, I’ve changed to repeat sits via established relationships and referrals. Most of my travel won’t involve sitting.
