Winters in Seattle

Yep, 16 inches of snow the day before I left for Vegas…..it was horrible……..roads were treacherous and icy due to the horrible wind after all the snow. Came back and had 75 degree weather . Crazy!!

In Vegas enjoying the warmth now. Love the dry heat.

We stopped for lunch yesterday at the Mojave National Preserve. My dog loves the desert. He lounges like a sun worshipper and sniffs like crazy.

I’ve been in Washington state since the end of January: two repeats, one in Port Townsend and two in Seattle, and now two back-to-backs in Bellingham. Having previously lived in Washington state, I’ve experienced some warm winters and some cold ones. This one has had little snow until recently and not that much rain, which the region is known for. January in Port Townsend was beautiful, chilly low 40s Fahrenheit but sunny. Since Port Townsend is in the rainshadow, they typically don’t receive a lot of it. I’ve really enjoyed this weather here in the PNW; as for cold, I don’t mind it as I avoid hot places. And the best part: fun cats with some silly personalities :winking_face_with_tongue:

P.S. Has anyone else done sits in Port Townsend or other parts of the Olympic Peninsula?

I grew up in PA and have lived in NY, DC area, and Seattle. It’s not that they’re incompetent, it’s just so so hilly in Seattle – and given that snow or ice that lasts more than a day is very rare, I’m sure the jurisdictions don’t have proper ice melt measures. Also not sure that would work well given the topography, super narrow and winding streets etc.

Definitely the city shuts down when it snows!
