20+ pets - yikes!

I had a sit with quite a few rare sheep, separated into different fields. All I had to do was count sheep - literally, and make sure none were limping or stuck in fences. There were some chickens too, also easy

I was very reluctant to accept a sit with five indoor rescue cats in a one-bedroom city apartment. However, the experience turned out to be much better than I anticipated. In fact, there was very little to do, and I found observing five cats to be significantly more enjoyable than watching one or two. The cats were extremely well-behaved, and the host was amazing in providing care and training in addition to traveling the world rescuing cats.

I saw her advertisement again the other day, and she now has eight cats

Did you sleep well on that sit @Smiley ?

Our first ever THS sit was for 13 creatures - 11 hens and 2 dogs . We loved it .

It was far more relaxing than a subsequent sit for only 4 pets - where one of the 2 dogs ( energetic puppy ) constantly harassed the 2 cats .

Not really, it was freezing in bed but fabulous location in the Shropshire hills

We would be fine with a sit like this, as we have a number of animals ourselves. To each their own, I would just move on from it and allow others to experience it if they choose.

I absolutely would never sit more than 3 cats (ideal is 2) especially if they have access to indoors. Just the idea makes me woozy at the thought of the odor!!
When we were in Chania, Crete, where stray cats are bountiful, when we would approach an area of homes that feed these strays the odor was overwhelming.
Big N O for me.

I’ve noticed in certain countries such as Greece that everyone takes in the stray pets which is wonderful to have the strays looked after but not the ideal sit for everyone. I admire the sitters on here who apply on these sits. As mentioned before on the forum, there’s a sit for everyone - which is great!

I’d actually love to look for the husky sit you’re referring to. This is me in Norway last March, where I was half-kiddingly offered a job at a sledding center (there were 200 sled dogs!).

Its in Mattawa, Ontario, Canada for those interested but I will DM the link to you @toreishi

Agreed, I did a lovely hobby homestead for a week where it was feeding ducks and poultry, and rescuing sheep from the turkey enclosure, technically it was 20+, but other than the turkeys refusing to go to bed and the dog having the most spectacular roll in the muddy pond (photo of my attempts to catch him to clean him up attached - I think?!) it was great to play house with them all for a week, really cleared the mind! And a fun experience whilst on holiday and not working - 2 dogs and 2 cats were enough though…the sit the original poster mentioned - definitely not for me!

Agreed, once looked after 4 dogs and 4 cats, and the 20 year old cat was more work than the other 7 combined! He was a menace!
