does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can boost my chances of getting a sit in Suffolk over Christmas? I have done a lot of sits in Suffolk over the years but none of my THS contacts need anyone and there is no published sit that has the right dates or pet mix. (ie cat sit not suitable for dog to come too). We are a couple with over 20 5 star reviews. We are looking for a sit that accepts our lovely Jack Russell too. Any help / advice would be appreciated.

If you change the location on your profile to Suffolk, it will increase your chances of getting a private invitation from that area.
Unfortunately, although by no means impossible, taking your own dog along will reduce your opportunities
Have you saved a search for the dates and location ? Then you will be notified of new sits that meet the criteria.
We do paid sit via another platform and have received several requests for paid sits over the holiday period .
So signing up for a paid sit platform is another option to consider .
Thank you - I have never done a sit outside of THS (or for friends) but maybe should consider it!

When looking for a sit in a specific area and with specific dates in mind, I just constantly check listings using the ‘Sort by’ and ‘Newest’ filters. There’s also now a ‘Christmas sits’ filter.

thanks for the suggestions so far. As this was my first post here I should have given more info - I have a saved search, I look several times each day, I have notifications on, I have changed my location to Suffolk etc etc.
I just wondered if there is a place on this board where people can offer to sit at specific times in specific places that Homeowners would see.
Or can anyone suggest another platform for me to post on?

You can try posting on the FB group for Housesitters UK and put your location & availability on there with some pics and maybe a reference. There isn’t a facility for that set up on THS, only last minute sits for hosts. #worthashot
We have done paid house sits for a Suffolk based agency based in Orford. Give them a call.
@cappi, you have 20 5* reviews and experience in target area. Appreciate that you have specific pet companion.
We rely extensively on the THS Saved Search function. At any time, we have over 10 active searches for different time periods, locations, etc. When we receive notifications of new listings from our Saved Searches then we review and apply in a timely manner - rapidly if there are already applicants.
Re your own pet, we have not done this. But ensure that your THS profile has ample information on your Jack Russell, including specific prior times that he has joined you on housesits and the PP pets involved. Details seem important as objective is to give PP appropriate comfort.
One additional idea is to browse Suffolk sits that do not currently have active listing dates. “Favorite” any that look like they might work for you.
Some members get an email telling them that YOU “favorited” them. Maybe they will reach out to you.
Also, at the very top of your profile (this would be under the “experience” section, I believe), you can place a sentence: “We are actively seeking a sit in Suffolk in Dec 2025.”
Make sure your profile is in tip-top shape.
