Maybe a useful reminder for travelers who check bags:
love our AirTags! We have 4. When we are not traveling they are in our cars.
Are you getting the new ones, which are supposed to have a much farther range and be more findable?
I use them in my car, in baggage and on keys. Will upgrade.
We travel with 4 airtags - one for each carry-on luggage and personal item (backpack). Very handy.
Unexpectedly we’ve found secondary use case - switching airtags on pet collar with our own (host consent).
Will checkout new Airtags - if meaningfully improved features then we’ll upgrade.
Apple is warning against using AirTag 2s on pets due to more robust anti stalking and louder audio features. Apple also warns against using the new AirTags on your school children for the same reasons.
Ours have a pretty good radius. For example I am currently 700 miles from one of our cars and can see it. We bought them over a year ago.
We also were once told by the airline that our suitcase had made it on our rescheduled flight to a different city but upon landing could see it was actually on the original flight to the original city.
We are currently on a pet sit and both dogs have them on their collars.
Same…suitcases/backpack, then move them to pets & the Host’s keys on site.
As @OnTheRoadAgain mentioned, Apple is recommending against the new Airtags for living beings, so I’ll be hanging onto my old ones for Sits.
