This may sound a bit strange, but I am looking for somewhere in Glossop, in the Peak District where I can leave my dog next Saturday morning (21st Sept) for up to 4 hours, while I am in a class. if anyone has any ideas, I’d be very grateful. The dog walkers / kennels and doggy day care places I have contacted are all unavailable… Many thanks for the advice/help!
Welcome, @BilboBaggins
That’s not something which is offered by sitters on this forum. THS is to facilitate a mutually beneficial arrangement, which must include overnight accommodation for sitters.
Have you looked at the website “Borrow myDoggy” ?
You might have luck checking out the website Rover and similar. As said above by @Happypets this site is petsit for overnight accommodation.
In answer to the Q posted in your headline, no, rarely would THS sitters be interested in such an arrangement.
Most of us have jobs, businesses or passive income. That’s why we’re on THS, instead of say another platform. We’re essentially bartering pet and home care so we can stay in a host’s home, usually while traveling.
If you can’t find care where you’re attending class, then maybe find care near your home, even if it means you drop off your dog before you head away. Or you drop your dog somewhere along the way where they have a kennel or such.
Try a note in the supermarket?
Or on the bulletin board of a nearby school/university. And pay them something.
Have you considered a dog groomer or doggie parlour? Normally you leave them there for a few hours? Dog gets a blowout you get time for your class?
THS is not the right platform for your needs. THS is a mutually beneficial exchange between owners who get their house and pets cared for and sitters who get accommodation. The T&Cs include the sitter staying at the owners house overnight.
Thank you all for your helpful thoughts and messages!
I am travelling to Glossop from Gloucestershire, so cannot see people or post local messages before I get there, however there are some good thoughts here. My dog is a 2 year old labradoodle and registered PAT (pets as therapy) dog. He is very gentle and loves children and other dogs, and I absolutely should have said this, but didn’t want to make the message too long.
I know THS doesn’t offer this service (I have been a member for several years) but just thought this forum was worth a try.
Thank you all!
