@ If I remember correctly, there were two private equity investments with maybe a year or two between them.
@temba’s informationis correct. I also joined well before ID verification was compulsory. When THS made it compulsory, there was a time limit to comply. Some sitters left THS rather than have their data held by an unknown company in another country.
There is a difference between a hotel, insurer or management company taking a physical copy of your ID, and an individual doing the same. A company or organisation has to be accountable and follow laws or rules around how they hold or process personally identifiable information.
Interestingly, only this year did I discover the real first name of a host I have sat for multiple times over a number of years! So sitters may not know a hosts name either. It isn’t uncommon for people to be known by a different name or a shortened version - myself included. It would feel really formal and uncomfortable if hosts had to use my full first name as nobody uses it - it usually meant I was in trouble as a child if it was used! I have a friendly relationship with hosts and we use the names our friends know us by.
Long time sitter here, we have been asked 4 out of over 80 sits.
First time very new to sitting and there was their own contract and ID shown that I knew nothing about and was not until the sit was in the hand over stage, thankfully everything was okay, it was a little daunting, especially with 2 Primary School aged Children in tow.
Second Sit was a long sit and the Insurance Company wanted the ID.
Third/Fourth Sits were the Security Companies for the Alarms at the Properties.
At the end of the day, we have access to practically the Owners whole world, they only have what THS have requested us to provide and what’s on our profiles, having my ID on someone else’s WhatsApp/Email that is then forwarded to an insurance company leaves me feeling a little uneasy to due data breaches these days becoming and everyday occurrence, however we are handing over our credit/debit cards and waving them over at Shops etc everyday, they can be cloned really easily or just withdrawing Cash at an ATM outside a Bank where you would think there’s so card skimming device attached.
The Owners have said they deleted the messages (I have to trust that they have)
IDK what THS policy is on this, however like previous replies, gated communities, apartments with security etc would be asking, it’s why the food delivery places have to leave it with them downstairs.
Wishing you all the best on this sit and future sits.
