Ok, I’m new, but this isn’t rocket science, right? So…when I search available sits I enter the city, country & our dates. Often only a handful show up. However, when I go in via Google and enter for ex. Paris, France housesitting-THS is one of the 1st sites to appear and when I enter it that way there are many more listings to choose from. What’s up with that? Thanks!
Marketing to get people to get sitters join the site - when you look online there appears to be more available sits than there are in reality.
Those are the ones in “reviewing applications” status, I think. It is what THS shows to browsers that are not logged in. It is a way to advertise.
New sits will show up. You can set up a Saved search for Paris and you will get notifications of new dates. But most of those will be gone within minutes.
People who aren’t members aren’t able to sign in and see what’s going on in real time, which includes sits that go into review. Review is the stage when a sit has at least five applicants and is automatically put into pause stage for host review and stays that way till the host unpauses (or chooses a sitter).
There has to be a division between what members see vs. what nonmembers see — they are two different views.
This also happens on a site called housesit search, and it’s super annoying. You type in dates you’re searching for, and it looks across all pet sitting sites on the web for you. A lot of them are from THS, but when you click on them, those listings are no longer available or active. Every single time
Thanks for the explanation!
If indeed you are looking for a sit in Paris, it’s normal that there aren’t many at any given time because they literally go like hot… croissants!
Yep, I was using Paris as an example only
