Any recommandations? I am looking for good Fish and Chips in London for a small price
Good, small price and London should not be used in the same sentence
There’s the old adage that London is too far way from the sea to have really good, fresh fish & chips. Are you not going to Brighton or Dorset or Devon or anywhere near the coast at all?
If not, this could be a good starting point depending where you are in the Big Smoke

Thank you, but whats up with eating fish on Monday?
it was worth a try
Traditionally fishermen have Sundays off so any fish you eat on a Monday is never as fresh as it’s already at least two days old @Wiki #randomfact
London and cheap! Not a chance.
Cheap and London don’t go together, it’s a shame you’re not near the coast. So why not just do Wetherspoon’s for cheapness, they’re great value.
Was about to add can’t beat Wetherspoons for value for money. There’s a lot of snobbery attached to Wetherspoons but you’ll always get a decent value for money meal and decently priced drinks.
Totally agree, fantastic value for money, but they also do good food, and some of their buildings are amazing (not all though)
Go to Sloane Square, the Peter Jones Department store has the best views in London for a cheap top floor cafe. Get your fish and chips there…. or they do a great Goulash soup with crusty bread.
London is a big city, you may spend £30 travelling to get cheap fish and chips - just a thought…
@Furryfriends i agree, you cant beat a wetherspoons…. Especially in a different place, at least you lnow what you are going to get.
Tbh i agree with many of the others. I sort of think of anything but fish and chips in london. The choice is so diverse.
There are a couple of old pubs however we came across around covemt garden which is a great place to see in itself. I remember a meal there that was really quite reasonable for where it was. Its busy and touristy though but very characterful…
@Furryfriends. As a wetherspoons mystery diner you can get good fish and chips but they’re cooked from frozen and it depends on who’s cooking them. Had fish and chips twice in the last week in different wetherspoons…first one was good and the second was well overcooked.
The local chippie in your area could be pretty good.
I have always found the fish and chips in the UK very oily, dripping with grease. All cooked in batter. I’ll look into this Weatherspoons as I’ve not been to one. Just Googled it and I read they are pubs??? Maybe that’s why I’ve never been to one I feel uncomfortable going into pubs alone in the UK.
You’re going to the wrong fish and chip shops
@ziggy Wetherspoons is a nationwide chain- kind of like a pub version of MacDonalds- easy to go in alone! I must say- as a Brit- I’ve never thought of Wetherspoons as a fish & chip destination! But why not? Cheap & cheerful is often good! Especially in London!!!
@Hallt64 I’ll keep trying
@Lokstar I’ll be in London beginning August, I’ll check one out then
If you’re ever in Greenwich you could try Goddard’s for eels and liquor. I’m sure you can get eels elsewhere but I saw them on the menu there (and had pie & mash - I’m not brave enough for eels)
