Brand Refresh Feedback

I’m afraid my neurodivergent brain is not dealing with the lime green at all, it has made the site less user-friendly.

Hi @lilo

Thanks for letting us know - I’ve added that to the feedback we’re collating for the team.

@lilo The ‘tennis ball green’ is more of a putrid yellow on my computer. Very aesthetically displeasing.

Just to inform you @Jenny , to add to the feedback you collect. I have the same problem than @lilo . It’s good to plan and look colours through accessibility lenses.

I have migraines, and these lime green boxes and lines on the web page trigger it, even when I turn the brightnes really low. There’s too sharp contrast between the background and the colour. And the lime green is on every single page you open, while searching for sits or sitters. Edited to add: actually, it seems to be literally on every page, what ever you do.

Hi @CatsAndDog

Thanks for letting me know about this.

I’ve taken note of what you’ve said so that we can pass your feedback over to the team.

I really don’t know what is going on anymore.
Why can’t THS just concentrate on all the many outstanding issues that members are patiently waiting for?

If a body has underlying health issues, isn’t it better to spend time, effort and money trying to resolve them, rather than slap on another layer of foundation onto the face and change the eye shadow palette?

Hello @Itchyfeet, @Harris2 @blackcatsrule

I understand it can be a bit confusing when new things are launched, so I am here to help! The brand refresh is organised by the Marketing Team and this is separate from any work that the Product team is doing.

This thread is about the brand refresh and the linked photo competition, it would be great to keep it on track for the community to share their wonderful pet photos and enter the competition, if you would like to start a new thread discussing anything else that you would like to see on THS please feel free to.

We have also just launched a new Product category on the forum so this will be the best place to keep up to date on all of the new product launches. If you use the spyglass there are also topics discussing what new features everyone would like to see and anyone can provide feedback and ask questions there.

I look forward to seeing all of the competition entries!

@lilo as soon as I went into the sitting search site and saw the new colour green, I immediately had to step back as I couldn’t focus on the wording, only the stark, bright green. As I continued reading, I really struggled to stay focused on the text. How did TH ever come to the conclusion that this bright, non focus colour could be a good thing?? From what I read regarding ageing eyes which MANY of we members are, this is the case for me. Why this???

The green is flashing continuously.

Look at this image for example. How bright can you get! And the “Help” word is constantly flashing green in your face no matter what you are looking at.

I don’t know if there are any yarn-craft people here, that know the site Ravelry, but they did renew their website (a brand refresh, I guess) some years ago, and ran into the same problem with overly bright colours. After lots of feedback from members (it is an accessibility issue) they tweaked the colours a bit and it’s been working beautifully ever since👍

Edited to add:
I had to go back and see, what Ravelry did, and in addition of modifying the colours a bit, they actually added a choice of “mode” to the sidebar, so that people could choose the colour mode that suits them best. Works really well for me!

This might be one of those features they’re only rolling out to some people. Unfortunately I don’t have the option to change the mode away from this questionable palette choice.

@meow Sorry if my post was a bit confusing, I was talking about Ravelry, as a n example, and how they handeled the very same problem. I clarified my post now. So no “mode” on THS.

Ah bummer.

FEEDBACK

Good morning. I checked out the new colour addition to listings and noted that the bottom of the listing dates are now incomplete. Still readable, but looking like a poor attempt at cut and paste. Also, the green ‘reviewing applications’ text is VERY hard to read, can’t understand why green was chosen. Should’ve kept it as it was or at least match the purple circle next to it which is easy on the eye.

@ziggy we oldies don’t seem to have value, so our poorer eyesight doesn’t really matter as it’s all about bright fresh new things. We loyal oldies don’t seem to be the target demographic. Geez, I sound like I’m a hundred :frowning:

not my favourite colour (the lime green). I prefer the way the site looked before this change

@Jenny I would suggest the team look at how the refresh has affected the site’s compliance with WCAG2 accessibility guidelines. I ran it through a couple of the free assessment tools and saw ratings of 70-72%. Any rating under 85% is considered low enough to open the site owner to litigation.
