I know this has been raised before, thought it was fixed, but just now noticed it is still (or again?) a probem.
Calendar shows the date the Sitter leaves a sit as unavailable.
What this looks like:
Sit is posted as March 25-April 1st.
Sitter needs to be there the night of 25th, leaving the April 1st.
But the Sitter’s calendar blocks out April 1st, so a HO looking for a sitter may assume that the sitter is not available for a sit starting April 1st.
This isn’t an issue for the Sitter applying to sits, but… IT IS an issue for Home Owners who prefer not to post sits, but rather contact sitters they’d like to chat with.
Could THS show calendar dates the way hotels do: 1/2 blocked day for the departure date.
This would make it clear that the sitter is doing a sit ending on that day, but available to start another sit on that day.
Thoudhts?
THS has made it clear that sitters can finish one sit and start a new one on the same day i.e back to back (which we have successfully done) so hosts can contact sitters anyway to check their availability on said - apparantly blocked- date.
What @Lokstar is right, but I think there must be an intermittent fault with it. Because sometimes it’s totally fine, and then on the odd occasion it says we are busy so can’t apply, when we aren’t, it’s simply the start or end day of another sit.
Yes, as I wrote above, it is not an issue for the Sitter applying, but my point here is that for Hosts looking for a sitter who aren’t 100% aware of how the Calendar works, it appears like a conflict
@ASASG HOs are not blocked (like sitters are) from making contact at any time regardless of what the calender says. So they can always enquire about the sitters flexibility. I have received plenty of invitations to sit when I am already booked elsewhere which indicates the HO did not even look at my calender!
I think that’s pretty common- HOs like a profile and reach out without checking and many sitters, myself included don’t really work with the calender anyway.
It is true that some HO don’t look at the calendar but we cannot know how many do look and thus won’t contact a sitter because of the assumption they aren’t available
I don’t see any benefit to anyone on the calendar showing a date blocked when in fact it is not.
