Can topics/threads on the forum auto mute?

I just out a post up in the ‘other house sit sites’ tooic. Was chatting to a friend outside the forum and she said she hadn’t seen it. We discovered she had the thread on mute but didnt do it on purpose as she doesn’t know how. Does the system auto-mute threads for those topics they really dont want discussed, or has she somehow done it by accident?

Any topics on the public Forum are available to everyone - if one person can see it then everyone can - unless they are being ignored or muted by another user.

If she’s possibly looked at the thread before, she may have accidentally clicked mute on the notifications, as that’s the only way that a thread can be muted.
