Thanks Karen for your swift response, much appreciated and I hope everyone doesn’t think @ElsieDownie and I were overreacting. It all seemed so suspicious and in this day and age, trust is fast becoming a difficult word. Sorry to put the wind up everyone
Thank you Karen for your reassurance and I apologise to the OP but they must see our concern. We have worked hard to make our profile what it is and to think someone else could use it was a nightmare.
@bakindoki please contact Membership Services with your concerns and a link to the sitter in question as @mars suggested. That way they can look into it. They can be reached at support@trustedhousesitters.com.
Thanks.
@Cuttlefish and thanks for jumping in
@ziggy #sharingsundays
WOW!!. this is something I wouldn’t have guessed could happen. This makes me nervous. I hope no one can gain access to our financial information. HOW CAN SOMEONE ELSE USE OUR PROFILES??
@TLH_070460 no, it has all been an innocent mistake. Please refer back to replies from Karen_E on this thread regarding what happened. All fixed and no security concerns at all.
I’ll do that! Thanks
What in the world?! I just woke up to a flurry .
Everybody, no I didn’t hack your account. I’m here for the animals, not your personal info and financial details
@ElsieDownie and @ziggy, sorry for the scare.
@Karen_E thanks for clarifying and updating my url!
@bakindoki hahahaha so sorry to give you such a wake up call
Ok thank you!
It was reactionary comment and I do apologise. Good luck with your endeavours.
It’s all been satisfactory explained.
No offense taken…just glad we’re all clear
That would be a great feature to block sitters and listings. It is annoying seeing the same listing over a d over again especially if you know it won’t work.
I also wish we could block sitters. I’ve never had a reason to block an owner though but it is true I’m aware of places I would never sit for so it would be nice to be able to just remove the listing from search results or notifications.
As far as sitters though, I keep getting 2 or 3 people who always apply. I’ve told them already no for reasons as to why, but they keep applying and sometimes right after I decline their application, they re-apply within minutes. This is really really annoying considering the 5 application limit and this same group of people keeps taking up application slots.
@stewartlikeshousesitting I think you should report (to THS) those sitters who keep reapplying when you’ve declined them! Its strange behaviour. Either they are being deliberatively provocative or they are too stupid to understand ‘application declined’!
I’ve just had to decline another applicant 3 times in less than an hour. I don’t understand why this is a problem owners have to face. One decline should prevent the house sitter from being allowed to apply for the same house sit unless the owner returns and sends an invite. I don’t believe any have intended to be provacative, I assume all are just very… slow.
I have no idea if it’s possible to get a computer to apply automatically as soon as a sit with certain parameters (location, dogs, cats, etc) appears? This would explain something like this however.
Where are the computer experts to answer this?
I guess this is definitely possible.
@Pawtastic I suspect that some people have a computer script running to find sits in places like Paris or Venice as soon as they are on the map, and to automatically send an application.
It would be a big effort for me, but I think I could do that.
