As I consider the new, duo-sitter option for my 2nd 6-month Winter (and beyond) Escape from NE OH, I’m wondering if the monthly-fee structure would allow me to “buy into it" whenever I wanted to share responsibilities and/or needed / wanted a bit of a break… ![]()
Very unlikely but you would need to ask Membership Services.
Although this is advertised as x per month -it’s actually an annual fee -
not sure I understand what you mean by
“ When I want a bit of break … “
do you mean that you wouldn’t sit but would add someonelse to your profile who would do the sit without you ?
@Silversitters I’ve actually been noticing a significant number of newish sitters who have the Duo Sitter badge and wonder whether they might not understand its purpose. @sharonk44109 the Duo Sitter is so that couples/two people are able to apply for sits that have overlapping dates of 2 days or less, not for the examples you have given.
No. Just being able to do less on a sit which I’ve secured with a co- / as a duo.
More like being a tag team so that 1 sitter’s either free to explore / roam more on any given day and/or, generally, do less when splitting daily responsibilities, e.g. walking, feeding, etc.
Ty for that fee clarification.
We did a local sit where the puppy barked at night requiring complex management (I survived) however husband went home every night to sleep so that he was there daily to supervise and I could get an afternoon nap to catch up and cope with the situation. We were a tag team!
Just to add @sharonk44109 that you can have a Co sitter on your profile without paying to “upgrade “ to duo sitter .
For a six month trip if you want back to back sits - you may benefit from being able to apply for sits where dates overlap a sit that you have already confirmed.
The benefits of duo sitter are that you can apply for sits that overlap another sit by 48 hours only . So if the sit overlaps by more than that you still can’t apply .
No. Be there together but not fully responsible for care, etc. on agreed upon days.
As @Silversitters says if you want a companion to join you on a sit in order to share responsibilities etc you can just add that person into your profile without cost. I sit with my husband and he is on the profile as my Co sitter, as only one person can be the named account holder. Our account includes pics and full description of us both. Friends, siblings or any other kind of paired sitters can do the same.
The only reason to get Duo Sitter is so that you can split up and overlap sits by up to 48 hours. If you don’t plan to overlap then just add the other person on your account. Include pics and some written description of them. And away you go. In the old days we did occasionally overlap sits but since we never wish to now we gave no subscribed to Duo Sitter.
It just occurred to me you might even mean teaming up with another registered THS sitter to share a sit-by means of Duo Sitter? If that’s the case one of you would miss out on a review as only one sitter account can be confirmed for a sit. Best is to add a companion on your own account.
I’m confused by your approach which I don’t think will appeal to homeowners. They just want to know that someone is taking care of the pet. The duo feature still involves a primary sitter and the additional person. The only difference is that you can do short overlaps and the second person also have a background or ID check. The reviw still goes to the primary member. You can divide up the duties however you want, but if you are the primary and the secondary messes up, it’s your review. This is why I watch my spouse like a hawk on sits and keep him on his toes. ![]()
