Applied for a sit this weekend, so only a few days away now. HO said they’d be happy to confirm me as the sitter in the first message, so I just asked a few questions first, which I’d normally ask on a call… then said it sounded all good and was happy to confirm….
Message read. But no confirmation and the sit still says reviewing.
I’m very confused - is the sit booked or not. Does loose communication like this make anyone else feel nervous?
Yes I’d definitely be a bit nervous if this was me - did you have a call with them? I never confirm a sit without a video call first, then they send an invite and I accept. I would apply to other sits just in case and try to get in contact with them!
I always suggest a video call in my application message, but no they just wanted to confirm.
@RR12345 are they new to the platform ? So don’t know the process for confirming ? As a minimum we would provide our mobile number and ask for theirs .
I assume if not confirmed on dashboard you don’t even have their address and haven’t seen any kind of Welcome Guide ? Some new owners assume that THS provides the sitter with this information.
Chase up and ask for a mobile number, sit confirmation on the platform , their address and welcome guide . Let them know that sit can’t go ahead without this information.

Hmm… If it was me, I wouldn’t accept a sit without a call - if they say no to a call, I would say no to them. Chase them up and ask for details etc

If it still says reviewing then they have not confirmed you (or anyone else) for the sit yet. I would write to them again requesting a phone number (which you need anyway for contact during the sit) and for them to send the confirm sit request. Or request a quick phone call if that feels better. If its a weekend sit we sometimes confirm without a call-if there are no questions. Otherwise putting a voice and/or face to each other can be reassuring. If you want the sit it is not pushy to follow up especially when they’ve already said they want you. They might just have got caught up in something else entirely unrelated to the sit.
Good luck!

@RR12345 - the exact same thing happened to me at the weekend. A HO wanted to confirm straight away and I said I would appreciate a chat first as I had a couple of questions about the listing, mainly around arrival and departure times, welcome guide availability, vet details etc. and whether the cleaner had a key or did we need to let them in.
She agreed to the chat and much more came out in the conversation about potential third parties coming and going throughout the week. I decided to withdraw my interest during the chat.
Initially the listing sounded ideal but just goes to prove you need to know what you are letting yourself in for.
If you are still interested in your sit I suggest that you chase them up, get a mobile number, ask questions and talk them through the confirmation process if you are happy to go ahead.

I applied for a few sits over these dates, and another one has just come back and said they’d like to confirm so I am going to go with that one, as they’ve been a clear communicator. The other one still says reviewing so I’ll take it as they’re still reviewing.

When the other sit is confirmed withdraw your application from the non confirmed one ….
Also message them on the platform ( to cover yourself ) to say that as they haven’t confirmed the sit on the dashboard and you haven’t heard any more from them you have accepted another sit . …
