Hola @AlbertandCami , we’re from the UK but sit in Spain for almost half of our year as our son and his family live in Spain, so we spend months at a time in Spain, we love it.
We’re actually in Spain at the moment, but we’re heading back to the UK next week after spending almost 3 months in Spain.
The majority on here write in English because the largest proportion of both pet owners and pet sitters are based in the US and UK.
OMG Albert and Cami…I can’t imagine what your house was like for the World Cup final!! How did that go???
I love to practice my Spanish when I can, though I learned quickly that Spain was not the ideal place for me to do this as my Spanish is Mexican and my level is intermediate.
It was a beautiful experience; the most unique part was the semi-final against England while we were there, we were definitely the away team, haha.
I’m in the same boat with English; I’m learning it here in the UK now.
One thing I wasn’t quite sure about: are you in Mexico right now? Spanish accents really do change from country to country, though, haha.
Hi, sorry for the delay. That mix you do is beautiful; I was telling Cami about it, and it gave us a great idea to try something similar, haha.
Also, we went to look after some pets for an English family living in Jávea, Alicante.
Which area are you in?
No. I wish I was in Mexico right now. There are not many pet sit opportunities in Mexico. I learned Spanish when living in Los Angeles in the restaurant business as most workers were Mexican. Because I am fluent in French, Mexican Spanish came very easily to me and we have been to Mexico a few times and I took classes while there. I can communicate basics pretty well there. But when we went to Andalusia and I was excited to use my Spanish I was quickly humbled! They understood me just fine (one waiter even told me I had a Mexican accent) but when they answered me I was completely lost. I was so sad. I want to practice it but it seems Central America is the better place for me to do that.
We want to return to Seville and would love to have a pet sit there next winter!
So who did you REALLY root for in the final?? (My husband is French and our daughter lives in France so we wanted France but then rooted for Spain)
