I don’t mention it when applying, but it usually comes up later.
In my experience, most HO don’t know about it or understand it, and are annoyed once they understand what it means.
There is not much point addressing it in your application if the application remains ‘unread’.
I applied for a sit 18 days ago. My application remains, ‘unread’ with the status on the listing as, ‘reviewing applications’.
The sit I applied for before that was a ‘last minute listing’. That one was never read and I withdrew my application as the start date approached.
With only 5 applicants there really is no excuse not to get back to applicants in a timely manner. However I saw a post from someone today on another forum asking how to refuse applicants, (at least 3 did not have the stated visa requirements) and get more.
So there is clearly confusion here. Even if HO’s know about the rule of 5, they don’t necessarily know how to decline and unpause their listing.
I get a notification from THS when my applications have been paused. If HOs don’t know this, it’s because they’re not paying attention.
