Do you vlog? What do you vlog?

Hi! Are there any sitters amongst us that are vloggers that post housesitting content on social media sites?

I’ve seen a few posts on here before that some people blog their sits but don’t always run it past the HO. Some reasons are:

  1. They don’t film anything that identifies the HO such as family photos etc

  2. They dont film anything that isn’t already on the HO public profile that is accessible for anyone to see.

Thoughts on this? Do you run it past the HO or not? If not, why not? If yes, what response do you usually get from the HO?

If you post anything on Instagram from home and identify where you’re posting from, IG will add to your feed posts from that same area. So a HO (or one of their friends) on Instagram could be shown a video from their own home that was posted by a sitter. That would really annoy me if the sitter hadn’t checked with me in advance.

I never allow location identification on my phone, especially not on Instagram. Even when I post something about the dogs, it’s only them, without any location, house, or interior in the frame.

I agree with you, I think most HO’S would be annoyed by that.

Is it an account dedicated to sitting? Or just a general personal account? I have come across lots of sitting vlog accounts and I have always wondered if permission is obtained for when posting on non-personal accounts

No, it’s my personal account with 70 followers who are mainly family and friends.

I have a newer YouTube channel about our family traveling and a few clips do show the animals but they are outside shots like walks and dogparks. I don’t ask permission to post on outdoor stuff. If I have any indoor shots, it’s a close up of the animal. On my profile page on THS, there is one photo of my daughter laying on the floor with a cat and there is a dresser behind her. On that one, I asked the pet parent if I could post that photo. She told me I could post any photo.
