My membership expired during a sit, I don’t need to renew my membership because I am unable to HouseSit for some time hereon. I thought the system might still activate a review request from the owners account, so that I could leave review despite not having an active account myself. However THS have informed me that this is not possible without an active account both sides. Well, I’m not paying over £100 just to leave a review. And I think it’s pretty rubbish that this reflects on the owners account.
@Jemima yes this has been discussed on the forum before , here is a recent thread ( from two weeks ago )about the same issue . Although in this case the membership expired a day after the sit but they still couldn’t write a review .
According to previous post by admin there is supposedly a feature in place since Sep 23 that should prevent a member from confirming a sit that goes beyond your membership expiry date - unless you have opted into auto renew . Also it is supposed to prevent you from turning off auto renew until you have officially cancelled the sits on the dashboard.
@andrealovesanimals I thought that it was only sitters that have the facility to add external reviews, do hosts get this option too ?
I’ve not seen an external reference on a host’s listing before . Only reviews from past sitters and occasionally a link to an Airbnb or LinkedIn profile
It’s not a fair set up, and as owner’s don’t have outside references, there’s not much you can do. However, reviews are less important (probably) for hosts than for sitters, so I doubt you’ve let them down much. You can write them and let them know they’re free to post the review on their listing if they’d like.
True, except that many sitters here say that they see missing HO reviews as a red flag, so that’s a bummer. Posting it as an image is a good workaround but shouldn’t be necessary. It’s a bad system.
