I’ve put together a simple and practical guide to help you create an attractive THS listing. It’s not perfect -THS itself provides tips, too. However, those are often quite general, and not everyone finds it easy to apply vague advice without concrete examples. That’s why I’ve done my research and also read through the forum to include common concerns and suggestions.
What you’ll find in the guide:
How to create a compelling listing with clear details and great photos
What information about your home and neighborhood matters most
Clear explanations of pet care, house rules, and financial considerations
Transparent communication so sitters know what to expect
Haha that’s too funny - I have also been working on a listing guide! I just haven’t finished yet, as I’ve been super busy. I’m excited to see what tips you have given!
Maybe @Jenny can help and make an acceptance here to allow the PDF to be uploaded? I was thinking of asking Jenny to do the same for mine, when it’s ready, if possible? I can try and finish it tomorrow and upload it here too.
It’s really nice that you have taken the time & energy to write a guide, I’m sure it will be super helpful for many people
(edited by Forum team to add the PDF for @nagy26’s guide )
I’ve unlisted your reply with the link just now, as we don’t currently allow links to a third party site for the purpose of downloading a document. I’ve no doubt that your intentions are honest though, and I’m sorry I can’t leave it up.
I’m just speaking to the team about how best to platform your guide and I will make sure to follow up with you as soon as I’m able to.
I’m really happy to confirm that I’ve added a PDF link to @Fatamorgana’s first post, so that you can all access their guide, and I’ve also added a PDF link to the guide by @Nagy26 on this reply.
I wanted to say a huge thank you to both for taking the time to create such valuable documents, and I hope that everyone enjoys reading them and benefits from both members extensive knowledge.
I took a look at your guide @fatamorgana
it’s really great, and covers a lot of things that I didn’t and vice versa, so I think both guides compliment eachother very nicely and are useful in their own ways! I particularly love your pet and house care tips in the responsibilities - fantastic, spot on!
Thank you @Jenny for making this possible!
Thank you @Nagy26, for your encouragement and for your great word doc. I honestly think now nobody need to worry about their listing anymore.
A big thank you to @Fatamorgana and @Nagy26 for producing these incredible and informative guides on how to complete the perfect listing. I am sure they are going to prove to be very helpful.
Nicely done!! I’d love it if homeowners would be more clear about time and distance. For example, “We’re 10 minutes from the nearest grocery store.” Is that driving or walking? That makes a huge difference! Renting a car isn’t always feasible.
Your guide is great. Since my partner is a light sleeper and we need 2 bedrooms on a sit, I really appreciate that you suggested the owner include whether a second bedroom is available. I wish THS would advise homeowners to include this in their listing as well since often “3 bedrooms” means 1 room with a bed, an office and a gym.
