I can explain why I have 4.9 otherwise.
You have 5 stars
and 3 reviews if I look at your profile?! #oddities
You have 3 external references that are all 5 stars. No reviews yet. How long since the not so great sit ended?
Sit ended 10 July so only 4 days until reviews (if any) are published.
She has 4 applicants for her new dates. Hope those sitters have asked all the right questions because one could be confirmed before the reviews show.
That’s strange! Maybe it’s just me who can see it. But it shows 4,9 overall
Hopefully! I am sure though that she can get along with different kind of people. She has 5 stars reviews as well.
I may have been a bit too sensitive about things. She did say sorry about me finding the kitchen almost empty. I think lots of people go there with their caravan just for the location and wouldn’t spend much time with the horses. They move stuff a lot, from the house to the cottage, to the pool house….confusing.
I could have been more organized with my questions as well. I launched them as they arose so that might have been a trigger for her.
We were just not a fit. I don’t think she is bad. She was also under a lot of stress. We both had our mistakes actually. I was a bit nervous with it being my first sit and driving for the first time outside Romania, first time in Spain and in a house with solar panel and lots of different issues (broken mosquito nets, blocked windows, poorly equipped kitchen, old washer) and I could have been more grounded and understanding ![]()
Hopefully next sit will be a better fit! I’m a friendly person and I like to feel friendliness and support from the PP. When they are tough about not much I don’t like it.
Thank you so much for everything! I actually have a new sit coming!I am looking after horses again, this time in Brittany. I love them so much! Apart from being surrounded by animals and woodland there is also the ocean and Merlin’s forest and tomb so I am super excited.
The host read my review and the review I left and she was so kind and reassuring. She told me of all possible problems, she is pikcing me up from the airport, giving me a car. I feel this place will be of really great support! She even insited I can bring friends over if I wanted.
My only worry is that with 3 dogs, 5 cats, 2 ducks and a horse that comes in, the place will not be as clean or freshly smelling to my liking but it will definitely be helpful in helping me become less of a clean freak ![]()
Any tips on how to keep the place fresh?
I reckon windows and doors open should help.
You are certainly prepared to take a lot on @DanaNedelcu ! I hope you enjoy the sit and manage to find the time to explore a little.
If the cats are outdoor cats then opening the windows is always a good idea. In my own house, as soon as I get out of bed I open as many windows as possible, unless it is too windy. I’m a great believer in allowing fresh air into a house.
I find it very difficult if windows have to be kept shut because of indoor cats but then I rotate the rooms, meeting a the door closed and opening the window.
I hope this situation is a much better experience for you. Have fun. ![]()
@DanaNedelcu Oh I’m so glad you have a lovely sounding sit to look forward to! That’s great. Enjoy! We too are on a sit in France right now, down near Bordeaux. We’ve done many sits in France, mostly rural, & its always lovely to be here- such a beautiful country.
If your sit is rural, with outdoor cats then I’d suggest you just keep doors and windows open as much as you can especially now in summer.
We had a similar multi-animal sit a couple of years back here in France- 2 horses, 2 cats, a few chickens (& a dog which they took with them that trip) the house was indeed not the cleanest but the family was lovely; generous and kind which compensated a lot! And they had a gorgeous pool! We overlapped the first night, enjoyed a wonderful homecooked meal with them, and after they left next day I did a quick & thorough cleaning ‘blitz’ of the areas we’d use and we then really enjoyed the next 3 weeks! ![]()
So I wish you a wonderful experience to make up for the last disappointing one!
Thank you! It seems quite a relaxed sit. I only have to feed the dogs and cats in the morning and the ducks and horses with some hard food in the eve. The dogs have plenty of space for walking but Ill take them with me anyway for exploring the grounds! The horses have a stream for water and food all the time. She didn t mention any mucking out but I like it anyway haha ![]()
So it s mainly for being around. Doors are open all the time just have to figure out how to protect the ducks from mr fox and the cats from another wild animal. Was thinking about music.
Thank you so much! That sounds like a wonderful plan! Will definitely do the same, as much as I can! ![]()
