Get Started panel bug

I have a new bug! New to me anyway…I have a very annoying panel at the top of my search page with a checklist of things to do to “Get Started.” It won’t go away because it thinks I have never searched for a sit.

Thing is, I’ve been a member since last May and I’m coming up on 20 sits completed so…can someone pass this on to tech?

I have the same. I emailed support today with a screen shot asking how to fix.

it now acknowledges that i have indeed searched for a sit, but the panel remains :woman_facepalming:

I received this reply below. I did what they indicated to do, and it does get smaller, but it still remains. Right now, I have to do this step to minimize each time I log in. I’ve been a member since 2017.

*Thank you for contacting us about the purple “Sitter Checklist”. The sitter onboarding checklist is a fantastic way to give sitters more guidance and help them thrive in the TrustedHousesitters community. It’s a checklist that you can complete and tick off in your own time, knowing exactly what you need to do next. *

*This checklist is a new feature that we’ve added to a few pet sitter accounts at random as a temporary test. I do apologize for any confusion caused, as we understand that the checklist is most beneficial for new pet sitters, who are yet to complete their profile. *

Because you have completed all 6 components already, you may instead click the upwards arrow to the right of the purple box, to minimize it from view. I will also share feedback with our team about the relevance of the checklist, as it should disappear from view given that you’ve also been an active pet sitter on our platform.

When there are so many other things they could do some work on.

oh man, that sucks…i mean, for one, you can minimise it with the arrow, but you have to do that every time you refresh or are on a new page in any way.

for another, having that on every single page would not have felt helpful in any way when i joined.

for a third, do they not have accounts that they use for testing instead of experimenting on live accounts?

i have never found THS support helpful, and this is another example of that - a copy and paste instead of “sorry to hear that, let me contact tech and get that removed for you.” THS admin, where are you? can you get this feedback actually fed-back for us please?

right?! (that’s all i wanted to say but it’s not enough characters apparently…)

Membership services doesn’t say that, because they don’t control any of that. That’s not ever going to be something they control. They can’t make promises and obligate other teams, which decide their own priorities. That’s just how companies typically work.

The kings of tinkering are at it again!

I’m getting it and I’ve done over 40 sits, so it’s not just going to new sitters. It’s extremely annoying since it’s at the top of the page whenever I search for a sit. I really wish THS would put more effort into implementing their “improvements”. I don’t need a new sitter checklist.

Hello @lilo @Voyager

I have reported this issue to the Tech Team and if/when I receive a response from them I will update everyone on here. Thank you.

the functionality of the website will have a direct impact on the satisfaction of, and as a result, the retention of paying members. it is not how companies “typically work” - i can’t think of any other place i’ve had a technical issue (because this is a technical issue - it is appearing on my search page due to coding instruction but is in no way relevant to my experience) where i’ve not been told “let me pass that along to the relevant team to have this resolved for you.”

If a customer service team promises to remove something that’s part of testing, they’re BS’ing, because it’s up to the testing team to deal with. In some cases the testing team might deal with it and in some cases they might not. Customer service teams don’t tell other teams what to do. It’s at those teams’ discretion. All the customer service teams do is relay info in such cases.

Testing in particular isn’t something that other teams can order around, because then there’d be no way to control testing.

Update;

I have just received a reply from the Tech Team and this is something that they are aware of and are currently working on a fix.

Thank you.

Yep, we also have that very annoying and totally useless feature now!

Now, in addition to the ‘getting started’ panel at the top, I’m also getting a pop-up that says 'Need help securing a sit? You’re more likely to secure a sit with the Low Applications badge". I have to click ‘got it’ in order to search for sits. These changes are not in any way beneficial.

Haha. That is just not true.

Those sits are the “hard sells”

@Sam_F Any word from the tech team on this issue? It’s really annoying to first have to scroll past a large ‘getting started’ panel in order to look for sits. I’ve done over 40 sits through THS so I don’t need to see the ‘getting started’ steps.

It would be really nice if the tech team focused on fixing existing issues rather than creating new ones.

Hi @systaran and thank you for tagging me.

The Tech Team are still currently working on a fix for this issue and hope to have this resolved very soon.
