So, we have a previous sitter, who has always been super responsive, booked for Sunday 10-Sunday 17 March. I invited them two days ago to a sit in April, and there’s no response, and when I texted them this morning about the sit starting in a week, I haven’t heard back. I’m concerned for the sitter – like I said, they’ve always been super responsive – but I’m also of course concerned about the sit, as this isn’t a trip I can cancel. What should I do?
Hi @Val - have you tried all other avenues of communication other than the THS messaging service? If they are previous sitters do you have their email, mobile etc?
Just take a step back for a moment, and breathe.
When you invited them to the sit in April they knew they were about to be in contact with one another this week anyway with regard to your sit next week. So with it being a weekend they may have simply thought they had a little time and would be speaking to you shortly anyway. Plus they’d need to look into the logistics and check their diary etc, so may have needed a little time to plan things.
So on this occasion I would just take into account your message that you sent them this morning… and they may simply be enjoying a family day or timeout with it being a Sunday. I’d give them until tomorrow night before you start panicing, but in the meantime, if your last message was via THS then send them a whatsapp/text too, or vice versa, just to help speed things up.
If you thought they were great in the past, you are probably correct and they are still great, you are probably just expecting them to respond too quickly if you only messaged them this morning about your sit next week.
If it’s been 24 hours since your text I would call them. If you have an email try that as well…maybe they’ve lost their phone? Good Luck
@Val dis the sitter get back to you ?
Sorry, offline for a week while we were gone – yes, she’s actually at our house now!
Have to see the irony here! You were worried that someone else wasn’t immediately available but then…
How do I add a smiley emoji?
