I am from the US on my first sit abroad in Malahide, Ireland, after traveling for a few weeks before the sit. I have been so impressed with how well behaved the dogs are here! I see dogs off leash in parks, on leash in towns, and they are so focused on their person and well behaved. I will see a young Golden or Lab off leash, and kind of wish they would run up to me to say hi, but nope! I have seen hound/hunting type dogs off leash, and wonder how they don’t run off! I am supposing that the Irish are just responsible, and don’t take their dogs out if they don’t behave? I am super vigilant after my Florida experiences with off leash dogs attacking, and it is so refreshing to experience a different dog culture.
That is interesting and lovely to hear that you are experiencing this. I have to say well behaved is my expectation so maybe I don’t notice it as much as I should. Have fun in Ireland, I’m jealous you got a sit there.
Similarly, when I’ve traveled to places like Japan and Italy, I’ve seen how well behaved their dogs are versus dogs in the U.S.
