I’m curious — has anyone else ever found themselves completely attached at the end of a sit? Whether it was a breathtaking location, a perfect morning routine, or a pet that felt like your soul companion… sometimes it’s hard to hand back the keys.
I once left a sit where the dog would rest her head on my lap every evening like we’d been together for years, and I genuinely teared up driving away. The house had big windows that looked out over the mountains, and the silence was unlike anything I’ve ever known. It felt like home in a way I wasn’t expecting.
Have you ever had a sit that made you think, “I could stay forever”?
Would love to hear your stories — the ones that tugged at your heart a little.
Yes, i’ve been a repeated sitter for some people in Anglesey, Wales. I fell in love with the area, it’s so beautiful, and the people are so lovely. I feel at home now. If the weather was better, I would consider living there. But you can’t beat the Spanish weather.!
I do private sits as well as a few times a year on TH. I live in a senior community. More than once a client has asked me if they can leave me their pet in their will. I always have to decline as I choose in my life today not to have a pet as I like to travel way too much. My own beloved pet died in 2011. There was a black cat in Canada I fell in love with. It was the most special cat I have ever met in so many ways. If they asked me to take this cat at any time I would.
My favorite sit dog lives in Stratford-upon-Avon in the U.K., an area I find charming. I considered buying a vacation home there, but stopped myself, because I couldn’t get there frequently enough, since I live in the U.S. But I did peruse real estate listings both times I sat him. I imagined myself living nearby and getting to visit him from time to time. Such a sweet doggo.
Yes! I’ve had several sits where I fell in love. In one case, I fell in love with the house and its view down to the North Sea and a delightful Burmese cat. In another case, I fell in love with a small community in North Devon and was fortunate enough to do 3 repeat sits. I was so sad when I left and once I knew I’d never return.
Yes, I am currently two weeks in, on a four week sit with the sweetest dog ever.
We bonded almost straight away & I am already dreading the time when I have to leave.
Of course, the dear little cockapoo will be glad to see their pet parent back which is just as it should be, & I will have to move on.
Lucky pet parent.
Yes, my favourite dog so far is in New Zealand but the area he lives in isn’t the best. I still get upset when I talk about him but have pics of him. After 100 sits, some repeats so do get to see some of my other favourites, I’m used to leaving and look forward to the next adventure.
