Heartbroken by our housesitters neglect and disrespect

@ReneeA I hope you have not yet posted the draft of your review as it really is too kind and general. You were distraught when you first posted on the forum seeking help from THS. Yes, harsh, emotional reviews can backfire but honest, unemotional, factual ones are what are valued by members. Pinpointing exactly the issues is important.

I, too, agree your first paragraph re the couple is not all necessary. Remember the review is based on how they carried out the responsibilities for your home and pets. Think of the 5 categories you have to give a star rating on, not forgetting communication or lack of.

Thank you everyone for your advice. It has and will continue to be a long road. The more I’ve investigated and learned about the lasting impact of third hand vape residue, the worse it got. Six weeks home and I won’t be moving back into my bedroom any time soon. I wanted to let you all know that I did do a clearer review to ensure HOs are aware. I don’t know how to check if it was posted or not by THS. It has been an interesting and challenging experience realising just how vulnerable HOs are in this offshore exchange, and how consumer law differs between countries. I wish you all the very best.

I’m really sorry, I hope you and your animals recover well and soon, and I sure hope the sitters are booted and banned. Thank you for sharing and for reviewing accurately. As far as I know, all reviews are published, so that will help other HOs. Based on this I will clarify our no smoking clause to include vaping, though sadly some people just can’t be trusted no matter what

@ReneeA. Just click on the sitters profile to see if your review has been posted, but if it’s after 14 days, it might not be.

This is terrible. I don’t know if it says no smoking, taping, or drug abuse in homeowners homes but I think THS should make it a policy which all sitters must follow this basic requirements. I’m not sure if smokers are even going to be honest. You know your home and how it should smell, I believe that this sitter violated term of THS . You should put in your welcome guide and definitely ask each sitter if they smoke. If they do then they need to find a place where smoking is permitted. Not outside your door either. I’m find THS really dont care much about what sitters are doing in homeowners homes. This sitter should get warned that 1 more complaint they are barred from THS. This is so simple to follow. People who smoke have to abide by smoking rules everywhere why should your home be any different. Im sorry to hear this and your poor pets.

Is it possible that you have a natural gas leak or a pilot light went out (stove, oven, fireplace, dryer?) and that is the smell and the reason you are experiencing symptoms?

Oh, that reminds me - I don’t have a working carbon monoxide monitor at home.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Age has nothing to do with being respectful though. I can guarantee at 15,16,20, 40, etc never in a million years would I have disrespected someone’s home like they have your home. I would not want this couple at my home to pet sit for me. Please be honest in your review. I love that you have empathy, that is certainly not what they’re needing right now however. I hope it all works out for the best and you re-write your review.

I am so sorry… that is awful. Try emailing support@trustedhousesitters.com
