Hello from Cyprus

Hello :wave:t4:

I’m currently on a sit in southern Cyprus.
Are there any other sitters on the island?
Or does anyone have any great tips for places to visit, experiences etc?

Sitting for a little tribe of cats, a mixture of indoor and outdoor. Affectionate, inquisitive and in charge :heart_eyes_cat::grin:.

Trying to explore island whilst I’m not working. And really loving it so far.

I’m usually based in Wales. Cyprus offers quite a different landscape

Hey! We just spent an incredible two weeks in Cyprus, and fell in love. We drove all over the place though. We have just started on this site.

Hi @WorldTrav that sounds like an amazing trip … What did you love about Cyprus, what was your stand out moment, would you go back and the food and drink, what do you wish you could share with your best friends right now?

Pictures please… :camera_flash:

Let’s see. Our friend is Cypriot and recommended some places, and we also had a friend who lived there for a while They highly recommended Lofou. We were there in May and it was completely empty. We had an amazing time. We started in Paphos, rented a car with a local small business and then drove into old town Paphos and then into the mountains and to Lofou. If I went back, I would definitely go and visit wineries. We then stayed at this wonderful little place called Modus Viendi, that had an incredible local tavern with amazing food.

HI @Elle and it’s a long time since I’ve spent time in Cyprus, so long I had to look up some of the places we visited as we explored both the coast and the interior. This led me to a comprehensive guide by “Living Nomads” which might help provide some inspiration.

We loved the mountains but visited a few times to experience both ends of the island. How long are your there for? Do you have transport?

If it’s a long summer sit then here are some other suggestions from The Culture Trip:

Do let us know where you end up exploring and what you love most about your visit!

@Elle
Cyprus…very nice! Lucky you.
It’s a long while since I was in Cyprus. There’s some great beaches around Pathos. St Hiltarion castle is interesting if you are into ancient history. In the same vein the museum that covers history has many Greek artifacts.

We did a three month stint in Cyprus from March this year with two long sits, one in Paphos. Visiting the wilderness area is a must, especially the gorge and the last castle tavern will be open now.
Obv Coralia bay for a nice beach. I liked the lighthouse beach and cafe there. I’m still missing Zorba bakery!!! You find it near the harbour a few blocks back.
Further afield I liked Larnaka a lot, we did a sit in Oroklini and enjoyed walks around the hills. The town of Larnaka is fabulous, so interesting with delicious food and nice promenade walk by fish restaurants. It has a great vibe there. Join I love Cyprus fb page for lots of tips.

Thanks for the great tips @richten1 and @Grateful11… I’m adding them to my list.
I love hiking and am having to get up before sunrise to be able to get a few hours in before it gets too hot.

I’m also very interested in history so am Googling St Hiltarion Castle straight away

Thanks for all the great tips

If you like history a trip to Nicosia would be interesting for you. Take your passport and head over to the occupied section for a wander. The intercity buses are really good, cheap and efficient in Cyprus.
The wilderness area I mentioned is called Avacas.
You can get a bus from Coralia bay to polis and Latchi which is a nice a day out.
You didn’t mention if you have a car or not?
