Wondering what were some of people’s best experiences here?
I’ve had a few but they were all in my home town while i build my profile and reviews. Can’t say that I’ve used it for travel except once when i used it for work in washington DC…
I am doing it for travel.
Top journey was last spring with Interrail. I used it to travel home from a sit in Basel, and after that for three more sits:
- Bologna (one week, no pets)
- St Cyprien (three weeks, “just a cat”, lots of wine with many nice people)
- Estepona (a week with the cutest Maltezer on the Costa del Sol).
And for looking around in Marseille, San Sebastiàn, Madrid, Granada, Barcelona.
I already bought a new ticket, for use in this autumn probably.
@pietkuip I just arrived from Basel and am off to Saint Cyprien tomorrow for a month long sit! How did you like it there? I’m excited!
The place in the Dordogne? It is a great little town!
The sit of Diana and Scott? Wonderful hosts, and lots of other friendly people there.
@pietkuip yes in the Dordogne. My stay is at the top of the hill overlooking the town near the church. Amazing that you had a sit there also, small world.
Yes, across from the church. I could hear the organ playing. With a balcony overlooking the valley. And “just a cat”, Ringo.
The balcony, Ringo, the roofs of the town, the Dordogne valley and the hills on the other side.
Petsitting in Thailand for 1 month, moving on to New Zealand for 1 month, then California for 1 month - all in one trip. Our favourite European sit location is Spain!
@MissCatUK our next sit- starting next week- is in Spain- near Alicante. We sat around Spain all last summer & loved it! All villas with pools! Doing the same now but different locations! So much looking forward to a bit of Spanish sun again!
The prices are great. We save Spain for the winter months Love Alicante area. Enjoy!
Top of our list (so far) would be Crete followed by the French Alps, Coastal Spain and Pujols France. Many more adventures to come.
About a month - started on Vancouver Island with Ellie, a delight to spend time with and her neighbor pal Moochi-
From there I took the ferry to Vancouver city and then the train and ferry to Whidbey Island, WA and a week with Buddy who was welcome at the local donut cafe.
And then down the coast to Livermore, CA and Chase
and Cooper
A week on Naples Island, San Diego, CA with Wrigley who everyone on the island knew because she would spend her days on the front patio of the house on the canal and greet everyone who walked by. She was absolutely a no-lead needed dog!
Turbo the cat lived there, too but would often visit the next door neighbor’s cat and sometimes the neighbor’s cat would visit us.
There are more - I’ll put in another post.
We have done around 30 Sits, several repeats, and not all of them were through THS. Only one was super challenging.
Our top two:
Rosa in her amazing home near San Francisco
Milo of Muir Beach, California. Beautiful place and great dog.
@pietkuip your sit must have been close to mine. Here is where I am, the church is to my right literally next lane down, the bell tower is just outside my window pretty much. The bells are like they are ringing in my room Nice little village, wish I had a car here though.
Ah yes, St Cyprien.
I think I recognize the place. Is the HO’s name John?
Hmmm I need to get my map out
Yes!!! John and Lucy!
Yes, I have met them. On Sundays, there is an expat gathering on the sidewalk cafés.
And the weekly market, with delicious things. Or there were fried insects… the French will eat anything!
OMG I am going to the market and the expat meet-up this Sunday to meet everyone Such a small world
You are higher up than I was. So be careful with the wine!
I know that I had trouble to get back up to the place across the church after the parties…
I walked up the hill today and thought, wow, don’t drink and walk here!
