Hi I’m needing some guidance. Recently did a sit that was quite overwhelming. I realized the host went against the guidelines like having cameras inside the house. I took some pictures of the cameras and have a feeling that they left me a bad review because of this. Is there a way to remove the review or remove them since they went against the rules?
You can not get the review removed. It is not per se forbidden to have cameras inside the house. It is however forbidden to have them operative during the sit. You would have to document grounds for asuming the cameras were on and in breach of THS terms
If they have been in breach of terms I would guess they will only get a warning, unless there have been previous complaints from sitters.
Formally what one do is to raise a «member dispute». It is important that one use that term for THS to follow up. It will however not impact the review given.
The best way to handle a bad review is really to bury it in good reviews. As there is big competition of sitters during the holidays coming up, an option could be to get local, short sits where you make sure to get 5* reviews. For local sits you have the advantage of being able to offer to meet host before they decide / confirm and to meet the pets.
Last year I did a sit where the Ho’s did not disclose they had indoor cameras on the listing or welcome guide. I became aware when she wrote in it pencil on the print out they left. I then sent the link about indoors cameras not being allowed , plus I informed members services. After I sent them the link they told me they had disabled them on the app, however I didn’t trust it so I unplugged them. They did leave me a glowing review, but I knocked.a star off accuracy of listing.
@Catgoddess_99 Thank you for the accurate review you left to help future sitters and to send a clear message to the pet parents to update their listing
great name @No_pineapples
Cameras inside (and outside) the home is my biggest bugbear. It really grinds my gears so I can empathise with your disappointment regarding this. You can respond under the review and lay out the facts in a calm and logical manner for future hosts to see. Then, like mentioned above, bury that negative review in loads of positive ones. I’m sorry you had to experience this. Good luck
Please, please make sure that you write a fair and factual review, including the fact that they have indoor cameras which were not disclosed.
Are you saying that they probably saw you taking photos of the indoor cameras, and for this reason alone, they might give you a bad review? What would they possibly say? “Sitter noticed our indoor cameras.” Hmmm…
They might not even know that you noticed the cameras. Have you talked to them about it?
