Hi All, we are new here

Ron and I live in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK.
We have a motorhome and enjoy trips away with our 2 small dogs. However we’ve now acquired a very friendly cat who loves company and therefore hope to find kind people on here to sit for us.
Ours is not a large home. Its a two bed semi detached in a lovely quiet area with nice neighbours. There is a good bus service close by into the town which is about 10 mins away or 40 min walk.
We are not fastidious but like the house clean and tidy generally.
We’re looking forward to being part of this site and hope to house sit too sometime

Hello Ron. Welcome to TH. You’ve certainly done the right thing by joining and wish you every success. As a housesitter with 33 sits under my belt so far, I can honestly say that joining TH and living a full time housesitting/travelling lifestyle is one of the best things I’ve done in my life.
Thanks for posting the pics.

Hello @Ronlyn Ron and three furry family members (love that shot and what faces) welcome to our community forum and we look forward to welcoming you to TrustedHousesitters, I did check for your account but it looks as though you are in the process of joining.

We have many members who combine their motorhome/van travels and pet and housesitting describing it as the best of both worlds, something for you to look forward to.

Enjoy the conversations and being on the forum meeting other members from around the world.

Hello and welcome, @Ronlyn. I hope you have a great experience here on THS!

I am sooo intrigued by the picture of your backyard with the in-ground fountian. Did you do that yourselves (or at least envision the project)? We are hoping to do something similar in our front yard, and are looking for advice (I know, not really what THS is about but still…). Perhaps DM me?

Cheers!

Thank you very much for your response. It all sounds very exciting. So many nice people on here. We are even beginning to think how nice it might be to house sit rather than have house sitters (except we have our three pets to look after in the first place)!
Kindest regards from Lyn (the other half of Ron).

Hi @Ronlyn

We have a combined membership for doing just that. I have had many owners inspired by seeing how much we love our pets and lifestyle who have come to the “other side” … the best of both worlds sitters sitting sor sitters, even sometimes sitting for sitters.

Confusing? Not really just the community working as we intended and with pets at its heart.

Hi @Ronlyn! Welcome!
Your little ones are adorable!
Been to Basingstoke for a 3 week sit and it is a lovely village with great walking paths and beautiful birds. Many good memories there.
You will have no difficulty finding folks to love those babes.
Enjoy! I am sitting for sitters myself at
The moment.
THiS is a good life!

Hi there and thank you for your kind comments.
When we moved into the house 9 years ago the garden had a large pond that sadly had been neglected. At the time we had three rabbits and a tortoise who enjoyed the run of the garden during the day, so we decided to fill the pond in. Knowing how important a pond is to the wildlife we bought a small rigid pond liner and placed this in the middle of the original pond, building it up and around with white pebbles and large decorative stones. We added a small fountain that connects to the mains (solar powered ones didn’t last), plants and a few goldfish. Around the outside of the whole thing we added paving slabs to raise it up a little (which kept the tortoise off).
To be very honest, we were trying to make the best of what was already there. Digging it all out and removing the rubble would have been costly but we’re pleased we did it this way now.
I hope that helps you. Good luck with your project. Kind regards Lyn (the other half of Ronlyn) x
