We will soon be critterless. How to post our home for a sit but with no pets involved?

Sorry to hear that but you can easily post a home sit only.
Just outline your expectations with regards to responsibilities, plant/garden care etc.

Remove pets from listing, I assume it will then automatically appear petless. This is importat because there is a search criteria for “no pets”. Also edit your texts to reflect that to avoid confusion. Start with “we used to have this and this pet” so that your previous reviews make sense. Some hosts accidentally post petless listing (forget to add their pets) so clarity is needed.

We’ve done petless sits. They were for the home which they did not want left unoccupied during their absence (an estate, actually).

Those are rare and you probably won’t have any trouble getting lots of applicants!

Yes they are @Franzl I have never had any pets and am called a “pet parent” which I detest and asked THS to change but they said they couldn’t.

@critterless, easy to action. We’ve completed multiple housesits that did not involve pets. Circumstances vary. But some homeowners want to enjoy stress-free trip without worrying about their property. In some cases this mitigates home insurance risk and/or avoids cost of home visits to comply with insurance policy requirements. But sometimes people just prefer their home to be occupied by a trusted person. All good.

I also detest to be called a pet parent, even though I do have cats. I will only refer to myself as a homeowner or petowner, but never a parent. :enraged_face:

Think they’re considering a vocab change to “Hosts.” That is what I’ve been using as well as a standard now. Inoffensive & covers both those needing pet care & those just needing home care.

Please include any additional tasks expected of sitters the garden etc also include any intentions to get a pet in the future as some might then heart you as a favourite to get updates.
