I’ve always been a big fan of booking sits way in advance, but honestly, we are now waiting and only applying for sits within a few months because we have no idea what the future will bring in 6 months. We have 3 sits arranged for May/June but we also know there’s every chance that any one of them could get canceled on us at the last minute if any one of them tests positive right before their trip.

Hi, @Catin88. I’m sorry to hear you are having challenges with sitters. We are HOs and have been part of TH for a couple years, and have been fortunate enough to never have a sitter cancel. And we have always had multiple applicants…until now. We have a trip in June, posted it in early April thinking that 2 months out was a good time to post, and have had zero applicants.
@SunshineNCoastlines I appreciate your asking about how the boosts work. Given we have zero applicants, I have been wondering about how to time this. @Angela_L thanks for posting the link and @Snowbird, thanks for your clarity in describing boosts in a bit more detail.
I have also read on other threads of owners cancelling a posting and then reposting as a work-around. I’d be curious to hear from community members and admin managers their thoughts on this practice/strategy.

Love the name! I did do a boost after finding out exactly how it works, and unfortunately, we are still sitting in the same place we were. No current application and though I have invited about 6 fairly local sitters, two are unread and the others have had to decline. I will continue this search as canceling our trip would be so disappointing. I’ve posted on other forum pages and told about how amazing our area is and how much there is to do. We want to use THS often, and I’m truly hoping that the sitter situation perks up a bit. I guess giving more boosts for a bit due to the lack of sitters wouldn’t be an option?

@ThreeLittleBirds Thank you for words. Yes, these are some hard times. I find that I would have at least 3-4 applications a day for a sit - even during the height of the pandemic In these past couple of months, I’m lucky to get 1-2 a week. I live in the NYC Metropolitan area too
