I did indeed @pietkuip
How are you and where are you? #youvebeenquiet
IMHO, any time you have to roll up your sleeves and clean upon arrival at a sit, it should be reflected in your review (both stars and verbiage).
I am not talking about a few crumbs by the toaster or a used k-cup in the coffeemaker. I am referring to things like dirty toilets, bedlinens, etc. Its not on
Maybe its just me, but these things seem minor and an oversight to me. Granted, I do home visits for my work and have for 18 years so I have seen the worst of the worst and the best of the best. If you do reach out to them personally, I would ask them first if they are open to some suggestions for future sitters they may have. I think if you’re going to dock them for cleaniless, you really need to state why in the review. I dont like looking at pet sits that have less than 5 stars but no explanation from the sitter as to why they docked them, makes it difficult for the rest of us to determine if we should apply or not.
what I would do is email them privately so they know how you feel .
Before the current blind review system I had a gross sit (bathroom & kitchen both gross, pup really badly behaved) and left a bland review, and after they’d reviewed me I emailed them with suggestions for change before a next sitter. Their response wasn’t pleasant.
Although, you can leave an over all 5 star review but leave 3 or 4 stars for cleanliness without going into detail.
IMO this says that in general the sit was a good one and that there were enough factors that made it enjoyable to overlook the cleanliness issues without going into detail about what wasn’t clean.
As a sitter, if I saw this I would understand the meaning without the explanation.
I like that now we have categories we can rate out of 5 while still leaving a good overall rate.
Right, we all have those sits where the good outweighed the bad but the category where they fell short can be revealed by less than 5 stars.
Have suggested many times that they do a private feedback feature here, but it will never happen!
Looks like checklist posted by @pietkuip

If someone docks a star or two for cleanliness I wouldn’t know if they were detailorientated and docked stars for some drops of toothpaste on the mirror or breadcrumbs in the toaster, or if the home was not cleaned at all with greasy doorknobs and dirty linen. I would need that to be explained. Because I would consider doing a sit with crumbs in the toaster, but not a home that hasn’t been cleaned since the owners moved in and sleep in their dirty linen.
