I was confused by your post but your follow-up comments make the situation clear. Although I know it can be hard to monitor an outdoor cat’s movements and meals, it doesn’t sound like they put much care or effort into it. Maybe it would help in future if sitters could also see the catio camera view? To not know if the other cat had gotten its medication is not okay at all. Did they put it in food and weren’t sure the cat had eaten it all? Or did they just not remember?
Either way, I think I’d mark down pet care a star, and my review might say something like, “Based on my experience, “X and X” may not be a good fit for cats that require more than basic maintenance.” I don’t think that’s overly harsh, but as an HO with higher-maintenance indoor/outdoor kitties it would be enough to help me (if they applied for my sit).
In addition to the not so great cat care, it seems to me the root of the problem here is the poor communication from sitter. Which makes me ask the question I’ve asked before, why is communication a category for review of a homeowner but not of a sitter???
I tried to get a response from TH about how to rate a sitter who left damages, but didn’t get a response. The sitters slammed a recliner against the wall - at least twice. Had to know because they moved it to make the second hole. Two holes in the wall, a little pile of plaster dust and paint chips on the floor and the back corner of the recliner irreparable. When I texted the sitter, she disavowed any knowledge of it and said she was 'offended"". I waited until the last minute to post a review so I was removed from my initial shock and disappointment. My dogs seemed well cared for so I still gave 4 stars but then saw her review of us - 2 stars! Harsh and unwarranted, and no offer to repair the damage. I’d like it suggested that people, both HO and sitters, wait at least ten days to rate and comment so that any initial feelings have a chance to mellow. I’m sure she didn’t. And still annoyed THS never helped me out with figuring out how to rate the sit.
I did so- thank you. I appreciate the ability to respond and put my footnote on the sitters completely unwarranted rating and comments.
I knew from the initial text responses and actually from some messages prior to my return, that this particular setter was easily “offended“ and seemed to take anything I asked as an insult. And it wasn’t. So she was being very emotional, and I was upset at the state of my house and also the damage to my chair. But I was also very tired and wanted to wait until I had time to be unemotional about it. I don’t believe she waited a minute.
Thank you.
Barbara
We do all the work ourselves so we didn’t have any workers. I had spent the week prior doing the refacing and adding the door to the dishwasher and spent lots of time with adjustments and, installing, re-aligning and re-adjusting to get a just right so I was pretty invested in it’s current condition when we left.
We reached out to the sitters privately and it seems like it was left how we found it do to some heavy handed use by the sounds of it. I didn’t think that was possible but the door face is fairly heavy so if you repeatedly fling the door open and let the weight of it slam down it could move and start to inch back it is what I gathered. No one should be using something so heavily, but I am going to make some custom braces to prevent it from happening and we are going to add it to our house guide for awareness.
I find that people that are used to soft close-features tend to «slam» doors without. They are used to doors sucking up the energy, so to speak.
Some parents I know chose soft close for the lid of their new toilet for the sake of their little boys. Well, the little boys got a hard awakening when they entered the «real» world…
Multiple damages, not feeding cats, not giving medication, bad communication - this would be for me a clear 2 or 3* general review and 1 or 2* in reliability.
Please let owners know about all that, this is really important.
