How we’re gathering feedback for search improvements

The 6 month timeframe filter is useless- make it a 3 month one! It aligns better with travel visas and there’s rarely sits 6+ months on the site anyways.

Many long term members have made many valid suggestions over the years. For example, greying out sits that one doesn’t wish to do. I can’t think of any that have been listened to.

@outdoorsy, example that works for us. On iOS app … find a sit … type location (e.g. norway) … ‘view map’ … change map area (move or zoom in-out) … ‘redo the search’ … done … can ‘save search’ of this custom area.

How are you able to save the search after you re-do it? I get something that looks like the attached, with no button to save it, or ability to modify the other search parameters (dates, etc.)

Please can you ask the tech team to split Cyprus into Northern and Southern. They have different visa requirements and only the south is in Schengen. #twocountriesnotone

I would like to be able to change my saved searches..eg. dates an durations as other sits come into play and impact those factors. Eg. I might have a saved search for Spain for June through July. I then confirm a sit for 3 weeks at the start of June. Rather than having to delete and resale a search from say June 22nd to 31st July, just let me Edit.

problem: as a “sitter” we have a bunch of saved searches. many times we look at a sit and decide we are not interested in applying. however, those sits we are not interested in stay as part of the saved search making it more cluttered and imposing more cognitive load for seeing the sits we might be interested in.

possible solution: ability to mark a sit as “archived” or “not this time”, so it would not be displayed as part of the saved searches. this filtering would possibly apply to just specific dates

additional option - hide a particular host listing for all future searches :

it would be great to have an ability to hide a particular host listing from all future searches (as sometimes we look at them, decide we are not interested at all, but then new dates from the same host listing would show up in new saved searches cluttering the results). and of course have an area where you can go to unhide host listings (if you did it by mistake or change your mind later)

for a saved search: ability to draw a boundary on the map for more precise targeting

bonus points: ability to have multiple bounded areas as part of a single saved search: e.g. select neighborhood A polygon, neighborhood B polygon, and neighborhood C polygon in a large city like London as part of a single saved search

in any saved search ability to quickly toggle between sorting sits by “newest” by “start date” and by “finish date” without having to construct a whole new saved search.

btw, currently when creating a new saved search it always sorts by “newest” or “recommended”. we have not been able to create a saved search (on the app anyway but i think desktop too) that would sort sits by start date.

btw, sorting sits in a saved search by end date would also be useful.

ability for hosts to mark their homes as zero fragrance / low fragrance / frgrance-free home. and the corresponding ability for sitters to filter sits by fragrance-free or low-fragrance home attribute.

we have had a few sits that looked great but it was hard to be in the apartment / house due to the hosts use of heavily scented cleaning products, soaps, laundry, scented candles that would trigger an allergic reaction or just would be too uncomfortable.

for saved searches: an ability to set up limit on the number of pets under care, so that sits with too many pets would not show up as part of the saved searches (e.g. we feel we can’t do a good job of pet care if it’s more than 3 pets)

for saved searches: set up (potentially tight) separate criteria for sending a notification by text for new sits meeting those tighter separate criteria for text notifications

ability to edit an existing saved search.

currently, if a saved search is not quite right, or if things changed (e.g.dates), or even if you simply want to change the name of the saved search – you have to delete the old search and create a new revised one which takes a lot of time and attention manipulating the map and making sure the details are right

(as a sitter) it would be great to have the ability to reorder the saved searches in your list of saved searches

A keyword search might help at times in a members profile/description if you would like them to have a particular attribute etc.

I have noticed that when i do a map search for particular locations in the US, I get a map that is almost all of North American and northern South America. When I try to zoom in, it regularly crashes.

And, again, why can we not save favorites by locations or however we choose? This is ridiculous in 2026.

Thanks.

@svv, gosh - great ideas flowing. like us, you clearly use saved search a bunch. fyi, it’s easy to “edit” an existing saved search on the website (not on iOS app). specifically, it’s possible - on website - to load listings in a specific search; change one/more search criterial; then create new saved search (and delete original saved search). we find this handy.

interesting. my spouse goes through saved searches one-by-one (presumably like yourself). in contrast I never do that, relying solely on notifications (on subset of saved searches that are currently of interest). no right answer, rather different usage of functionality.

we achieve this outcome by creating multiple saved searches, with different notification settings. clearly a workaround, but we agree with your seeming premise that some listings under some saved searches are more timely than others.
