Well @Hulagirl13
You’ve had a lot of responses but we’ve heard nothing from you.
Have you written the review? If so I, and am sure lots of others here, would love to read what you wrote!
@DMcat it is still tricky even with the blind reviews isn’t it as I di think future potential HO may look at your review. I guess that’s where being factual comes in.
This sounds a dreadful experience. It is possible the HO is inconsiderate or may have other issues which mean they did not see things from the sitters perspective. While red flags are sometimes raised we all expect to have doors on rooms and this has caught me out once, especially as it was on a bathroom. These conditions were unacceptable though and, as everyone had said, you need to highlight that in your review.
I think an honest, factual review helps everyone, even future owners and the sitter writing the review. In my opinion, if I don’t get a sit because an HO read the reviews I write, that means we’re not a good match, so I am glad.
True, but I happy burned that bridge and hopefully saved others from the same fate. The HO had had several sitters and almost no reviews. I knew it wasn’t going to be good
and it wasn’t.
Sorry , first time on the community forum.
I can’t find the review I did for her:thinking:. I only see the first review of what she said about me. When I wrote her a review, she replied and didn’t like what said and made excuses. I decided not to write her back. I blocked her on WhatsApp. I don’t need negativity in my life.
I tried to look at the HO and see her review I did for her, and I can’t find it. Frustrating. She did write me a snide comment regarding my review of her.
I need to let go of thinking about the awful time and just remember the nice video I made for her of her dog and I playing catch.
Your review of the sit - will be in your “past sits “
I’m just curious why you didn’t just stay at your own home if it was close enough to get heaters? Take the dog, which was well trained and stay home. I’m so sorry for such a bad experience. And I agree with writing an honest review to warn all future sitters.
Thanks for the comment. The small city was 40 minutes away from our home. We were thinking of moving to this city. Even though we would never do a sit close to us again, we thought it was a good idea to feel the city out before we thought seriously of living there.
This is completely against THS T&Cs and could lead to serious trouble, not only with THS, depending on the country.
5.3.12. ensure that pets will remain at the Pet Parent’s property overnight, and will not be taken away from the house without prior approval from the Pet Parent
We live on a sailboat in Cartagena, Spain. We did have permission to take her pet to our boat but she leaves lots of hair all over and is too big for our small sailboat. BTW. Where do u sail .
It was a good idea to check out the city, and that’s another reason why housesitting is useful. Just a shame it was such a bad experience for you
I wasn’t suggesting that they kidnap the dog, they could give the homeowner the choice of leaving the sit or taking the dog with them. The house was not habitable and no one should be forced to stay in such conditions.
I know you weren’t. I just wanted to remind everyone of that part of T&Cs. Sometimes we can do something with our best intentions and, instead of being a solution, it turns out to be a bigger problem.
Of course I agree
The sit is over and nothing serious happened beyond a bad experience. We are just analyzing the situation in case it can help for similarly difficult sits. From what @Hulagirl13 says, these don’t seem caring, reliable people so I wouldn’t have taken any risks. Just my opinion.
I appreciate the notice. I would never do that without the consent of the pet owners, but we have been so lucky with amazing sits, that it’s never even come up!
