On this sit I have two cats and a dog in my charge.. today is due to be the hottest day so far this year. There is a cat awol who missed breakfast roll call. I’ve asked the dog, Gus, where the missing cat, Max is…
He’s not fussed. They used to be playmates but then Max nipped the dog’s lip.. Game Over for life!
Come on Gus let’s make a fuss!
So I last saw Max on Wednesday and sent the Home Owner some photos, little thinking it could be the last of Max. I told the Home Owners I hadn’t seen Max at morning roll call on Thursday and should I be worried? Where should I look? Favourite haunts? Favourite neighbours? Max is the most extrovert of the pets and brimming with cheeky confidence. I quietly check the roadside, I take the dog noisily for a stroll ,
(Max has a habit of joining us at the start of one as we head down the drive.)
Home Owners tell me not to worry; it’s very dry and rather hot, Max might prefer to sleep in the garden. “ He probably resents the fact we are off again. He will probably saunter back, and when he does , make a fuss of him and get the cat treats out I showed you. “I follow instructions when he saunters in at the evening meal time. I feel like giving him a right telling off! This is Friday evening now! He’s behaving like an entitled teenager!I can’t hide my joy at seeing him and my relief!-the prodigal cat returns but not feeling particularly prodigal.
Another reason I love dogs best of all!
I’m with Gus, the dog, this puss is too big for his boots!
