Some days, it’s easier than others to be kind. We just want to be grumpy. Hopefully on those days, even if we don’t feel like being the kindest person on the planet, we at least won’t be unkind.
When I am having one of those days, grumble grumble, I know who I think about to try and be better: I’ve never seen him be unkind to anyone and I’ve known him his entire life. He is one of the smartest people I know, yet I’ve never heard him brag. He is kind and generous to strangers and never tells anyone.
Do you have someone who inspires you? What do they do?
Being kind and and upbeat most of the time is the most difficult thing to be.
It requires immense awareness, gratitude, appreciation for the most simple things because these are the things we tend to take for granted. It is a skill that requires mega practice. We have to remember things we also have heard so often we tend to ignore them.
Treat people as you wish to be treated.
Every other human being is just like you. They have a history, a herstory that is unique and influences their personality and who they present themselves to be at any given moment, (it changes). Just like they don’t know your story, you don’t know theirs, even if you think you do.
My son is very special, truly unique and He surprises me very day with his thoughtfulness, genuine concern for others and how he expresses that at home and in his business with employees and customers.
And yeah after 42 years he still checks on his momma.
That’s my example. I learn more from my children than I ever imagined. I’m grateful that our relationship is changing, growing.
Love this topic! I’m lucky to work for an incredible nonprofit that educates and advocates for living kidney donors. So every day I’m talking to people who have already or are hoping to donate a kidney to a loved one, friend or even a stranger.
Of course I have my grumpy moments and days like everyone but I’m so grateful to be immersed in a community grounded in kindness & generosity. That reciprocal spirit of kindness & generosity is also what drew me to THS.
That’s an incredible level of generosity and kindness. You must see and hear so much every day. I needed the reminder not to take my good health for granted and you just did that for me. Thank you for sharing this with us. I will remember.
