Irresistible enticing offer!

This morning, I received what can only be described as an interesting sit offer in my home city.

This was to look after a dog in a one bed home which is shared by two male friends. My sleeping quarters would be living room and to cohabit with the male house-mate.

Of course I shook my head then promptly declined and reminded this person of the third party policy but they’re still living in hope of getting someone to say yes despite this being pointed out.

Oh dear. Definitely report to THS, as this isn’t allowed on the platform. You can email support@trusedhousesitters.com and they can take care of it :+1:t3:

I have already done this. However, customer service team don’t bother to send even a small reply anymore so not sure if they’ll actually deal with it. My last three emails about separate issues spread over the last year have been completely ignored. They always used to be very efficient and I’d almost always get some sort of reply within 24-48 hours. This is no longer the case however.

It’ll probably end up slipping through the cracks I suspect. I can’t imagine this individual will get any applicants unless someone is really desperate.

It sounds most weird.

Indeed so. As a solo female sitter, I just wouldn’t feel at all comfortable sharing a home with a man I don’t actually know.

This is so creepy and inappropriate. Especially now knowing you’re a solo female sitter. Not to assume they are total degenerates, and maybe I’m hyper-sensitive, but I’m appalled that they’d reach out to a solo female sitter to share a room with some random dude. Maybe it’s okay on other platforms, but I cannot believe THS has allowed this to be posted. If you can offer any other details to help me find the sit I’m willing to report it too. I’m an HO but it don’t think that matters. It’s bad for everyone.

Please don’t give up! The people at this listing must be reported to member services; maybe ask for a manager to speak with?

Thank you for your supportive words.
This sit is in Edinburgh and it’s to care for one dog. This person currently has zero reviews. The person wrote and asked if he could set up a ‘meeting’ with me.

THS used to be very good at getting back to me but the last few important matters I’ve emailed them about, I’ve had zero response. Incredibly unprofessional of them to not even send a brief response. The more of us that can report it, the better so I thank you for doing so.

I’ve done what I can now and sent a message. It’s down to them to action it from this point onwards.

I’ve noticed this individual has since removed the part about his housemate also being a resident there.
Either, he has liaised with his housemate to vacate the property for the duration of the sit or has deleted this part to generate interest and it will be sprung on the sitter as a ‘surprise’.

I am on it. Also, on Monday a forum moderator will be back and should address this directly since it’s a clear violation of THS policy. edit just saw your update… so now it is not reportable, but if you still have his messages to you about sharing a room with his housemate it might be enough.

I hope this person is not going to pull a fast one and spring the surprise housemate on an unsuspecting sitter once they’re locked in. Wish I’d taken screenshots of the listing now. Will definitely be doing this in future!

@Chatsetchiens I have had the exact same experience recently. Always had immediate feedback and action but not anymore. Last one I reported was an 89 yr old man who was staying in the home who the sitter had to basically care for, shop for and look after, as well as multiple animals and property, ad posted by the daughter. It was a carer situation. The ad remained and nothing was done about it.

That’s some cheek as that’s a LOT of responsibility for anybody to take on. Somebody was really pushing their luck there.

THS seem to be ok with turning a blind eye to these chancers. Interesting it’s not just me who has been ghosted by them. Even as little as two years ago, I always felt like somebody at the team would take the time to deal with concerns but having emails ignored seems pretty standard now.

I reported a listing recently, got the answer that they should take care of it, and a little later the listing was gone.

Glad you had success!

Not too long ago, I alerted THS about a third party situation. They talked to the hosts and the only change is that the hosts modified their listing – the third party is still there. I made screenshots of the original listing and shared that with support, but that didn’t seem to matter.

I can’t say I’m too surprised by that. THS seem to be looking the other way to being alerted to listings that are in direct breach of their own policies and regulations. I think perhaps there are so many members now and the support staffing levels perhaps haven’t caught up. I’m not sure but I have noticed a lack of communication from the help desk which never used to be the case.

Even if THS did not have the no third party policy in place, I personally would find it very awkward and uncomfortable to share my space with people I don’t know. To me, it’s such an invasion of privacy not to mention potentially putting the sitter’s safety at risk.
