This has happened twice on THS now so not sure if they can do anything! A few months ago we had a house sit and that was due to end on 4th june (from the ad)… so on the 4th june we cleaned the house, stripped the bed, tidied the home and packed into the car… i then got a text as we were leaving from the owners saying they had extended their trip for an extra 3 days and had already told us.
This has now happened again! The ad said 27th September to 1st October… when i have gone into the fridge this morning i noticed the owner had left extra food out so checked the messages and it says 1st October when i checked again the lady said she was only coming home on 2nd!
Is this a THS thing?
Don’t think it is a “THS thing” @Jaz. You need to contact the HO with a screenshot of the message saying 1st October and they will need to get their emergency contact to take over from you as you will be leaving as agreed on the 1st.
We have just had a VC pre sit for just north of Auckland and they were going through their flight details with us as I like to triple check dates and times and they initially said back on the 24th, I queried that as their listing said the 25th. They double checked and went ahhh yep the time has a plus sign after it, meaning they land the next day (overnight flight). Easily done if you are not used to seeing that on international flights. So maybe that has happened here too?
I would say that the dates that you have confirmed on THS is what the agreement is. After that they would either have to ask you, and it is not an agreement unless you - agree! - or they would have to contact their emergency contact to take over.
THS is a mutual agreement, they can not simply «inform» you of their arrival and you have to comply.
I would screenshot the dates now in case you get a member dispute later on.
I’ve had a host that wanted to prolong. I said the tickets were booked and couldn’t be altered, so they got a friend to pop by after I left re our agreement.
Of note, we have been having some really strange texting discrepancies/delays between our Apple iPhones and our family/friends with Samsung phones. This has been going on for around one month (Sept 2024).
I have no idea why this is happening, but we have had it happen both ways: our messages are not getting through, and our reception is not perfect.
