Jealous? Moi?

I’m sitting two dogs at the moment and they are both jealous of each other getting more love or attention generally. If I stroke one the other comes over and tries to muscle in. I’ve had them both leap on the sofa to be next to me!
Even in the bedroom they both insist on being on the bed with me, ignoring the dog crate and dog bed in the room!
I’ve just read in a National paper in UK that a woman was reluctant to move in with her boyfriend because his dog slept in the only bedroom with him and the dog stopped the couple from getting amorous at any stage in the night! Apparently the dog moving out was not an option from the boyfriend’s point of view! Love me love my dog!
Paw Control!
Any other examples of funny behaviour noticed while pet sitting these Kings and queens of the houses we visit?
Here’s Chico clearly ready for bed!

True story: When my spouse moved in, I had one cat and he had one dog. I knew the dog well and we did a lot to slowly get her into the home. My bottom line though was no dog on the bed which she accepted but you could tell she was jeolous of the cat who got to be on the bed. Then there was a second cat a kitten and this also drove her a little batty.

One time my spouse had a bad stomach ache. Maybe food poisioning. The dog was acting like she was desperately concerned about him and really wanted to be on the bed to comfort him. I relented and said “Okay. You can come up. It’s okay!” She jumped on the bed and licked me – not him – and had this amazing grin.

When I moved back with my family from teaching abroad my parents also returned from their place at the coast of Chile. We decided to rent a big place and live all together. The rental was in the country with 7 bedrooms so we could have privacy and space among the 7 members of the family.
I’d missed not having a dog as we always had one when I was growing up. I saw an advert for a fully grown Great Dane to be re homed as the owner was pregnant and didn’t feel comfortable walking the dog any more.
I went and visited the dog as it was local and the dog leapt up at me enthusiastically on my arrival. This in itself was quite overwhelming but it lived in a small house and I felt sorry for its restrictive environment. It had won many rosettes and was a fine pedigree Black Great Dane about 3 years old.
I went away saying I would think about it…
My mother said if I got the dog she would have to leave the shared home !
I finally decided to take the dog on and said it would have to be on a week’s trial and I would get the vet to check it over too. I explained I had to win round some family members and a Great Dane fully grown takes some getting used to!
At the end of the week the Great Dane had conquered my mother’s heart and she took charge of feeding it and it slept on her bed!
The dog was such a success that we later got a puppy Great Dane to accompany it.
The dogs were such a lovely addition to our lives. They had huge grounds and great countryside to enjoy where we were temporarily living.
The older Great Dane hated getting wet and yet he came into the sea with me when we went to the seaside. What a compliment that was!
I do these house sits because my wife knows if I didn’t we’d have to get another Great Dane puppy! Ha ha!
