Jersey Channel Islands, if you’ve never been here as a sitter I’d highly recommend it. Why?
*great bus service and an App to plan journeys, a transfer ticket allows you to swap buses on a single journey for no additional cost.
*lots of nice walking along tiny lanes or coastal paths, & cars travel at 20-30mph max across 90% of the islands roads.

Any tips for getting a good deal on travel to the Channel Islands ? Do you fly or take the ferry ?What are the best months to visit for the weather ? Any special events festivals that would be worth planning a trip around ?
Sorry to hijack this thread , maybe we should have a Channel Islands thread ? .
I travel to Jersey from Brighton every 4-6 weeks ahd have done for a few years now, I’ve been coming to Jersey to visit family for over 40 years but much more frequently in recent years.
Here are my Top Tips
Travel:
Flights easyJet search for the cheaper midday options from Gatwick (avoid the last flight leaving the Island as it’s often delayed due to an accumulation of delays throughout the day. I try to do Tuesday to Friday to avoid the workers who do Mon- Fri or weekenders who do Friday to Sunday.
Ferries: I’ll only go by sea between April- Sep as winter crossings can be very wavy!
Jersey frequently gets fog bound so have a Plan B is you can’t arrive for 24 hours or can’t leave! If I’m sitting I’ll ALWAYS arrive the day before the hosts are due to leave. You need to be flexible.
Buses- use the Liberty Island bus app to track abd plan bus journeys. Ask for a transfer tkt if your trip involves two buses as you have an hour’s leeway between switching buses on just one tkt.
Taxis are expensive and trips can be complex with 500miles of small roads (20-30 mph max). The Island is small but it can take 45-60 mins to get from one side to the other.
Weather:
Glorious weather Spring Summer & Autumn but if you’re sitting near St Ouens in the winter it’ll be very windy and often wetter at that end of the Island with flooded lanes/roads if there’s much rain.
