Thanks again for flagging this. I wanted to come back and confirm it looks like a bug.
Not to worry, though, we’ll have it squashed before the overlapping sits feature gets rolled out.
Also, as a general guide, we actively encourage members to share that they’ll be completing an overlapping sit alongside a companion throughout the process, and of course, we confirm that with them too.
The feedback you’ve shared in the forum, as well as directly to the beta team, is helping to shape the feature.
Thanks for following this up. I have applied for three sits this week, and have had to explain that they are not overlaps, but consecutive sits. It’s frustrating having to explain to homeowners that we are not overlapping.
Also, hasn’t the overlap feature already rolled out?
It looks like it will be available to everyone eventually, BUT for a fee. We took part in the beta group and received an email recently, announcing that ‘As a thank you for taking part in our beta test, we’re giving you access to co-sitter verification and overlapping sits functionality for the next year, at no cost to you.’
This is correct, BETA members will receive the co sitter feature for 12 months at no extra cost.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this testing phase over the past few months. We’ve just got a few more details to polish over the coming weeks before the BETA comes to an end (we’ll then close this discussion).
More details about the co-sitter feature general release will be shared around that time.
For Solo or Duo users who do not opt into the new “overlapping sits functionality,” will it still be possible (as it is today) to apply for back-to-back sits (A-B) where sit A ends on the same day sit B begins?
@Silversitters Our overlap sit where the owners are coming home a day early is still ‘officially’ an overlap sit (by 24 hrs) on the THS website. We have also booked a further three sits that overlap. However, those ones start and finish on the same days, which are actually consecutive, but Beta count them as overlaps now.
In all these cases all the hosts knew that there was no overlap - so wondering if anyone confirmed a sit with hosts where there was actually an overlap.
No. We werent successful despite trying for one in Barcelona. I personally think all the early warnings are a big turn off for popular destinations with plenty of choice in sitters. Whereas we would normally have had an excellent chance at being chosen and then negotiate the overlap, our ‘disclosure’ in the application despite being up beat and assuring them there would be no issue with pet or home care, plus the system warning on top is quite offputting. Easier just to choose someone else. I guess thats the way its meant to work to even things out. And might be more successful for less desirable sits where there arent many applications to choose from.
Unfortunately we had no chance to find an overlapping sit. When the test started, we were in Iceland, and there are not many housesits available. Three weeks after our return the test phase was finished. As mentioned before, we think this test period was too short.
@Mark_B, thanks to you & other posters for related inspiration (and artwork weblinks). After repeatedly scribbling details of THS website (and our promo code ) on scraps of paper to various interested people then we decided to order some simple THS ‘business cards’. Indeed found some ‘mini’ size cards as we travel extensively. THS ‘member’ artwork file was very helpful.
I’m just popping back to confirm that the bug is now squashed!
The team have confirmed that any of our Beta members affected by it are now able to apply for sits that start on the same day as a current sit finishes.
Feel free to pop on and let me know it works for you if you have the opportunity to use the feature
