Sadly, we are rather disappointed with THS, to be now getting these rather immature emails, pre and post, Sit appointments. We Sitters are all adults, surely it’s not necessary to send these prompts before we arrive to Hosts? Of course we will have made an arrival arrangement, of course we will be in contact, of course we will be prepped for the Sit engagement, etc., etc.. As for the Hosts, we are stunned to see the pre-Sitter arrival check list THS sends about general cleaning, 'fridge space, hospitality, etc., etc. Is there ‘someone’ at THS sitting on a keyboard with nothing else to do?
Doesn’t bother me. Some new hosts don’t think about refrigerator space or freezer space or drawer space.
Despite the prompts some hosts still don’t provide those, so they obviously don’t read them anyway
Couldn’t agree more. It’s just visual clutter. Those of us who are mature and considerate will of course leave fridge and closet space for sitters (if physically possible) - to use but one example. Those of us who aren’t won’t suddenly fly into a panic as they’re packing to go away and run around trying to clear space.
i.e The people who need these infantilising messages will ignore them anyway. The vast majority of us just don’t need them.
Newbies excluded I presume. New members are often short a few fries of a Happy Meal when it comes to looming sits. Without the “infantilizing” messages, they learn the hard way which is no fun for anyone.
But it would be nice if the THS settings for push notifications had a more few options.
The prompts they don’t send are the ones they should. For example please remember that you are not allowed to have third parties on your property whilst the sitter is there. The sitter will be entitled to leave if you have workmen in every day, whether outside building garden room or repairing a roof or extension. Also do not have major indoor works going on every day such as new bathrooms being installeed etc.
And if you have adult children please remind them that they cannot visit during the time your sitter is there and definitely not bring a few uni friends back to stay for a couple of days etc. And if you have a nervous dog who is scared of your dog groomer do not arrange for them to come during the one week you are away. Have had to content with all this. Some home owners really do think that they can take advantage of a sitter, by having all building work etc. done whilst the sitter is there. Oh and not forgetting estate agents bringing people around to view the property also.
NO third parties means NO 3th parties!!
unless stated in the listing and agreed upon
NO last minute 3th parties at any time for whatever reason unless it’s an emergency like the house is in on fire ![]()
Hello!
Thanks for sharing feedback about our prompts. I understand that they’re not for everyone, and as mentioned by @OnTheRoadAgain (thank you!) I think they’re most likely to benefit new members. I also acknowledge the suggestion of push notifications having more options for fine tuning.
I’ve passed everything over to the team, and I’ll be happy to pop back if I get any feedback from them.
